This place wasn’t great nor terrible but it lands really in the dead center of really mediocre overall service and that’s being generous considering the list of complaints I have, and this is coming from somebody that never leaves reviews.
We can start from the very first major inconvenience which is their disastrous parking situation that happens to be connected to a dozen or so auto body shops that also stuffs its cars in the same lot. We had to wait no joke about 20 minutes just to pull into a really tight and compact space that eventually ended up getting blocked in by a car from one of the body shops and we spent another 15 minutes after we finished our meal trying to find out who in the restaurant blocked us in.
The food quality was alright, nothing too special but at the end of the night we were charged a whopping $150.00 for sushi in the more ghetto part of North Hollywood, not Beverly Hills or even Sherman Oaks, in which for half the price we could’ve gotten waaayyy higher quality all you can eat sushi or something equivocally closer to $150.00 worth.
Certain items such as the oysters and uni were unmarked with price and came out to really absurd prices after the fact. For example, we paid $16 for 4 of the tiniest oysters I’ve ever seen, literally 1/3 the size of an oyster you’d see ANYWHERE.
The rolls were tasty and creative, but once again in the average to mediocre range for sushi. The food quality wasn’t disappointing more so just underwhelming. The wait times for rolls were also pretty ridiculous considering we had large chunks of time where we were just sitting waiting for the next order to come in. Usually it’s meant to come out faster than it’s being eaten.
The servers were very friendly and receptive and definitely made the experience a lot better although that alone can’t save this review.
But overall I don’t think I’d come back here, just the parking situation alone keeps me up at night but for the price-point they charged for 2 people, I’d much rather go somewhere way nicer and get still higher service for half the price.
I would give it 2.5 stars if I could but unfortunately that’s not an option so it falls a bit short, the following list reflects our experience.
Atmosphere 3/5 Food Quality 3/5 Location 2/5 Parking 1/5 Price 2/5 Service 4/5
15 / 6 for an average...
Read moreI love the sushi here. The only time it wasn't as good was because of a trainee I believe but that's OK. To be clear, I like sushi that is loaded with all the extra stuff. They have good combos here. However they don't seem open to suggestion. Not even for someone like me who goes there almost once a week. It is fairly priced for what you get. Just don't order from the secret menu. That term is a gimmick and every item on that menu is dramatically over priced. The guys at the bar that actually make the sushi are always super friendly and tentative. However the few times that I have chosen to sit at a table, the wait staff is a major disappointment. They will sit around and talk without checking on you. They don't know how to look around to see if anybody is looking for them to order more food or ask a question (This is a very basic waiting standard), And they take FOREVER to bring the check every time even when I sit at the bar. They also had someone in there not long ago sitting at the bar talking very loudly on video call the whole time she was there. I asked about it and they had informed me that they were a regular party. I guess even more regular than me. Even so, I found this very rude of the customer and disturbing that the staff just let it happen when it was clearly bothering me. But that's has only happened once. Apparently they almost always go on Tuesdays. So I guess avoid Tuesday if you don't want to deal with that while trying to enjoy a meal haha. As I said, everyone is friendly and the food is delicious. Also, they make the sushi rolls pretty fast and still make them look pretty, which I certainly appreciate. Happy...
Read moreFood was decent but customer service was absolutely horrendous. At the end of the evening As I was walking out the door I tripped on the stairs and bent my ankle in and was on the floor for almost 2 minutes and everyone from the restaurant just watched and stared and no one came out to offer some help, ended up going to the hospital. The next day I contacted the manager named May and told her about the incident that took place outside of the restaurant and asked her nicely if she can make an incident report that should be written on paper and she pretended to not hear me at all, instead she try to offered me some of there free "ok sushi" and asked me if someone(something)stepped on my foot which made absolutely no sense these people do not care about they're customers ,very upset didn't even ask for a refund just wanted an incident report...
