NOTE: Updated, initial one was 2 years ago.
Today 10/15 the Owner was there. His new silver Tesla with the license plate NATS 83 is parked outside.
The service was deplorable. Waitress absentmindedly took order, then circled back to 'check' our order. Meaning, "I was not paying attention when you ordered, please repeat everything.' First thing we order is ice water (it's 92 degrees). This never comes, though the waitress tells us 3 X during our meal, 'This is my job! I get you what you want".
Potatoes undercooked, sent them back; by the time they're out, the eggs the server left on my table are of course cold. She then proceeds to remove condiments and drop check, never more returning to see if we need a refill. Have to keep flagging poor busser. Left without further communication from my server. She was busy laughing it up at the cashier's, uncaring she'd abandoned her customer. NAT'S a case of unrequited love. For years I've frequented, it serves a decent breakfast, priced the same as BOB'S BIG BOY and such.
If a business is fortunate enough to eek thru the lean years of Covid THEY SHOULD REWARD LOYAL PATRONS (at least, in attitude, if not from the heart).
Prior to this review, I tried to speak to Management. The gal on the other end ("Leslie") said, 'The owner comes and goes, he's gonna ask me what this is about'." I tell her it's about a loyal customer who got awful service who's never complained but this was especially poor experience'. She asks my name twice, and with a dismissive vibe, says she'll 'pass it on'. Been 3 weeks and of course - no call.
NAT'S maintains a strict policy. If you arrive one minute past closing, no go. Fine. But if a customer arrives 20 minutes before closing they are seated, and left alone to enjoy the $40 breakfast or lunch for a reasonable time, while patrons finished and the staff began its clean up. That's the fair, honorable way to handle customers.
But THIS waitstaff (most over 40, some who have been serving 20 years) have become insensitive that CUSTOMERS ARE A PRIVILEGE. TIPS are not mandatory - DECENT SERVICE IS.
I brought associates last week - boasted Sherman Oaks has some classic hole-in-the-walls. I said the food was good, prices decent, staff friendly.
We get there 20 minutes before closing. Ignored for 3 minutes. There's 5 FEMALE SERVERS staring at their IPhones, doing 'closing' clean up, otherwise occupied. There was only a few diners. I ask one of the 5 servers (one with full curly hair, glasses, mid-50's) if we can be seated. She hollers out to another Server!
We get sat in a booth. NO ONE comes to take order for 3 minutes - despite NO DINERS and 8 staff (including busmen) wandering around.
Eventually, a flustered server comes over after we AGAIN ask if we can order- the place is closing and we'd yet to be served - tons of servers hanging out, texting, ignoring the tables.
Now it gets bad. The server takes our beverage order. She comes back a minute later, "Sorry, what did you want?" What happened to writing down orders so you don't forget? We've yet to give our food order, the place has officially closed.
Now an elder Server comes by and says, "We're closing, you should order" - AS IF WE HAVEN'T BEEN SITTING THERE FOR 10 MINUTES. It's our fault they're ignoring us! She takes our order. Unfriendly - she has attitude of, "Fine, I'll do it,.."
She hands order off to 'our' server. SHE comes by a minute later: "Sorry, what was it you wanted?"
Our food comes out in 5 minutes. We dive in. All other patrons have gone, kitchen blasts a Hispanic station and the place is a frenzy of "Let's get the heck out of here". My sandwich is TINY and despite saying 'no fries' I have fries, not the side I ordered.
NO ONE offers refills or to see how we are. My associates are uncomfortable so in 10 minutes I track down our server, ask to get our beverages to go, she brings plastic to-go containers for most of our food.
The server drops our check with, 'We're closed, if you could pay?' UNREAL. Shame...
Read morePrepare yourself to be wowed by Nat's in Los Angeles, California. When you walk in it's like a trap because you will never want to leave. You can smell the pancakes being made by the chefs. Also once you sit down in the booths, it's like you sunk in the chair. You just went right through the chair and you are going underground. They're soooooo comfy. The location is also very convenient because it is not very far from Studio City. You can also really easily drive or walk to Nat's. Once you walk in you will be shocked by the smell, the chairs, and booths. But best of all the FOOD!!!!!!!!!
I love Nat's because the food is so delicious. I always order the chocolate chip pancakes. Even before the food is set down in front of you, you can smell the food and it smells absolutely terrific. The pancakes are always so gooey inside from the melted chocolate chips. Also on the outside there's some crisp texture on the side of the pancakes. They are SO SO yummy. There's always butter that comes with it and sometimes whipped cream. I also love how they always have a food special and I would really recommend them because they're so good. Once the food special was pumpkin spice pancakes I really loved it and so did my brother, he said it was really really good! The eggs are reeeeeaaaaally good. You can choose what kind you want. I always order the runny ones because that's the kind of eggs that I like, but there are a lot of different options. The food is out of this world! There's always enough maple syrup in the jar for everyone. And when I order a drink for myself I usually order the hot chocolate. There's always a tower of whipped cream on top.
When you sit at a booth you can hear and smell the the people cooking. The booth seats are the comfiest seats ever. They're like a bed, and you could sleep on them. But Nat's also has just regular tables and chairs and some of the tables are near the window, so it's a really nice view! The view is of cars driving by and the nice street. You can also see most of the stores nearby. While you're sitting in your booth, you can check out the fun kids menus. They have pictures of animals and superheroes and they're saying what the food options are.
If you go there you won't have to go very far unless you live somewhere else than LA, because Nat's is in LA. You can really easily drive or walk to Nat's from Studio City. There's also a game store right next to Nat's, and a key store right across from Nat's,and a nail salon right across the road. So when you're done you can go into those stores if you would like. They're mostly always open, but some of them open at around 12:00-12:30. But they're open until about 10, maybe 11 or 12.
The food is so out of this world at Nat's. The pancakes are so delicious, and so are the eggs and the sausage they make. It is yummy yummy in my tummy! I don't know how they do it. It's amazing. It's like magic. The food there is magical! That is exactly why I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars!!!!!

Read moreFirst off... This place is located in a small strip mall and you wouldn't even notice it unless you're paying close attention. There is ABSOLUTELY no parking unless you wait in the strip mall for cars to clear out, but that can take some time depending on if the 'force' is with you. Your best bet is to park on the street. The place itself (from the outside and inside) looks pretty old -depending on what you're used to. It gave me the impression that there may not be many people eating there. But as soon as you walk in, it's a fricken morning party with TONS of people there. People are there because the food is great! Unfortunately the service that I received wasn't that good. The waitress forgot the order(s) but it really didn't matter and is the sole reason why I gave it 4, instead of 5 stars. I had the blueberry pancakes with bacon and scrambled eggs. Realize that bacon and scrambled eggs is not the reason I'm writing this review since most -if not all bacon and eggs are prepared the same way. Their bacon will come out well-done and be really crispy. I had an OJ & Cranberry mix which was made by concentrate. Still good but if you're looking for quality in the fresh drink arena, you're really not going to find it here. However, it was acceptable. There coffee was coffee... Nothing special. But what made it worth it for me was there blueberry pancakes. REAL blueberries in the pancakes. There is only one other blueberry pancake out there that's better but only a handful of people know about it so far, which is "Jack and Jason's Pancakes". But San Francisco is a far way.
Bottom line: If you're in the area. It's...
