Absolutely outstanding! The Original Khun Dang Thai Restaurant in Panorama City, CA never disappoints. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. And let’s talk about the water! It’s rare to find a place that goes above and beyond with their water, and it was such a refreshing surprise. The Thai Tea was a delight as well, perfectly balanced and full of flavor.

As for the food, we ordered the fried chicken wontons, pad see ew, and chicken larb. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece. The fried chicken wontons were crispy on the outside, with a juicy and flavorful filling that left us craving for more. The pad see ew had just the right amount of wok-char, and the noodles were perfectly cooked, complemented by the savory sauce. And the chicken larb? It was simply sensational. The blend of fresh herbs, spices, and tender chicken created a symphony of tastes that we won’t soon forget.

As a Thai person, I was deeply disappointed with the service at this restaurant. Thailand, nicknamed the “Land of Smiles,” is supposed to reflect kindness, hospitality, and respect — especially toward fellow Thais. What I encountered here was the complete opposite of that tradition and spirit.

All I did was politely ask for extra tendons in my noodles, and I even made it clear that I was happy to pay extra. This was not a difficult or unreasonable request. Instead of handling it with courtesy, two staff members came out together and told me (in Thai) that they could not do it because “each dish has a limited quantity.” The way they said this felt shallow, dismissive, and unnecessarily confrontational.

To be honest, I found it very hard to believe they truly couldn’t add more tendons when I was offering to pay for them. It wasn’t about the tendons themselves, but about the attitude and the lack of basic customer respect. What should have been a small, simple matter was turned into a big scene that left me feeling uncomfortable, unwelcome, and embarrassed.

This kind of behavior does not just reflect poorly on this one restaurant — it goes against the essence of Thai culture. Turning away a paying customer with such attitude, especially a fellow Thai, is extremely disappointing. For a Thai restaurant to show this kind of disrespect completely contradicts the meaning of Thai hospitality. Because of this experience, I left angry and made the decision...
