I LOVE Paty's, but I have to be honest: In all the years I've been coming here, I'm always under the impression that at any given moment, the often-tense addled staff will be incapable of resolving issues when something goes wrong since they often seem just short of being overwhelmed, even when it isn't slammed. It's really uncomfortable and is a predicament at times when patronizing this otherwise fun establishment that I've (had to grow to) love...and the food is comforting, easy and familial, so it's still worth the revisit. And for this reason, I masochistically come back again and again, since the problems I encounter here are usually trifles, at worst. On the bright side, I especially love the promise of a downhome dessert of time-honored cake at the end of our dinners (we usually go there for dinner), which is always a traditional treat! And the Broasted Chicken is well worth the wait, which didn't seem long at all at our last patronage (thanks to our wonderful waitress, who we loved!). But again, the problem is that occasionally, though, there's almost always something gnarly to contend with. The last time, we ate at an inside booth when a group of adults with small kids showed up. I really didn't mind them running up and down the common aisles as we ate (I love kids!), but the adults in their party did nothing to curb them, nor did staff...and I received unwelcome glares shot at me from one of the adults there and all I was doing was just eating (um, we were there first and you wouldn't have to glare at me if you would just get your kids to sit and eat instead of letting them run amuck!). This is not the restaurant's fault but perhaps, staff could have kindly mentioned this to this party of kids and their inept parents. Other patrons in other tables signaled being perturbed by the kids and nothing was ever done. This and other awkward issues can arise when patronizing here, so just be ready! I'm conflicted because all in all, I still...
Read moreI come here often, but sad to say it’s kinda hit or miss. One day you have the perfect pancakes, eggs and bacon. The next you have well-done pancakes, cold scrambled eggs and cold bacon that seems and tastes like it was made six hours ago. The Turkey burger and Pastrami are inedible. The california and firehouse chicken sandwiches are the best things on the menu. Good enough to bring me back weekly. They started skimping on the fries, the chicken fingers and honey mustard are not even good, which is shocking, and the lack of mozzarella sticks on the menu is a crime. Two servers have said their chili is meh. The Arnold Palmer is 90% iced tea, and the banana pancakes are just a half a fresh banana sliced top of pancakes for like an extra $2 bucks. The onion rings are great. But overall, if you’re not getting the chicken sandwiches, stick to the breakfast menu, since the overall diner aspect of this place is pretty sub-par. So much so that I usually have to warn my guests if they try to order something new, because it often ends with them angry and me feeling guilty. Lots of potential here though, I just wish they would take the time to eat all of their own food and make changes based on what’s actually good and what’s not. Start with your fried food menu, maybe? Who has bad chicken fingers and honey mustard? That’s an easy fix! Hope things get better, because we do love coming here for their great patio. And the manager always helps fix our problems, if our meal isn’t hot.
Update: They just raised all of their prices $2 to $4, without really raising the quality of the menu. Might be time to say...
Read moreAfter reading a few good reviews I decided to try it , I ordered the Denver omelet and boy at $18.99 I thought I was going to get a high quality omelet, unfortunately it was quite the opposite , first of all it was more like a mini omelet it had lots of onions and bell peppers and had bacon bits like morsels of ham , so small and barely any that I could not taste the ham , all I could taste was onions and bell peppers tasted like a vegetarian omelete , I had fresh fruit instead of the potatoes and was your typical melon and grape mixture You get one slice of bread , most restaurants give you two slices and they use cheap Jams with high fructose Corn syrup so I skipped them . The sourdough bread was very thin and of cheap quality and wasnt properly toasted . The owners are obviously very stingy and greedy with their food quality and Portions and honestly it’s the first time I didn’t get full with a breakfast at a restaurant I came home hungry and made myself a spinach and Swiss cheese yummy omelet and way better and tastier than the Denver omelette from Patys diner . My mother oredered the californian omelette which was even more expensive and also of mini size like 4 inches lengthwise and two inches wide . i felt like we got ripped off . i should have stuck with bobs big viy down the street , they are much better and not cheap and stingy . coffee was also of poor quality tasted like farmer brothers or folgers I won’t be...
