AVOID THIS PLACE. DO NOT EAT HERE. FOOD POISONING WARNING!!!!
This place used to be my favorite and sadly this is no longer the case. I came in on a Friday and was shocked how empty the place was and the fact we were able to be seated right away at 8:30 PM. If you know this place you know that’s not possible. After being seated, it took 20 minutes for my self and my parents to place an order. The fish started to arrive and my mom doesn’t eat sushi, she likes 1 fish and orders the same sashimi dish every single time because it’s the only one she can handle/likes. So our sashimi comes out and it tasted off. My mom immediately said no thank you after 2 bites. My dad and I continued to eat and said yes the flavor is off but surely it’s the fruit not the fish. Grapefruit is bitter. Shrugged it off. We continue our meal and at the end the server asks if we need anything else and I remind her that we were missing items and she completely forgot so she was rushing to put them in. When the food comes out she spills sauce all over me and all over the floor. She was frazzled , but very little remorse. Should’ve been my first warning sign. Fast forward to 1:45 AM. I wake with a stabbing, shooting pain in my what feels like exploding stomach. I proceed to vomit for the next 1 hour. I had to go wake my parents and tell them I was sick. We called our doctors emergency line and he said that it was food poisoning and to basically let it ride out for the next few hours and if I still have problems the next day to come in for dehydration and an anti nausea shot. I luckily took activated charcoal and it absorbed all the bacteria and I was able to go back to sleep after being deathly ill for two hours straight. My mom ended up sick a few hours later and my dad ended up sick the next AM. We were all down for the count. I had the worst, but my mom had 2 bites and still got food poisoning. It was clearly BAD FISH! When we called to report it to YUZU, they took a message and said they’d call us back. I had to chase down a manager after waiting all Saturday for a call back, finically called back Sunday at 5:40 PM and was left speechless. The manager had no remorse. Said since we consumed the food they can’t do a refund. Didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that my whole family was sick. Said that since I didn’t actually go into the doctor can’t prove that it was the fish.. except doesnt realize how food poisoning works. And the cherry on top was being told in a very rude way that my “white stomach” most likely couldn’t handle sashimi as it is a raw fish and I’m probably not used to eating it. Sir, I’ve been eating raw fish since I was 5 and have never experienced anything like this. My grandfather is Japanese and my ethnicity has nothing to do with YUZU fish giving my family and I food poisoning. The lack of respect as a customer was baffling and the lack of compassion or remorse leaves a bad taste in your mouth (no pun intended). I had to hang up the phone with no resolution because they said they weren’t going to do anything and couldn’t care less. Such a disappointment....
Read moreI usually don't write reviews for restaurant experiences, even when the experience is unsatisfactory, but our latest encounter with this restaurant should be noted. I have been to Sushi Yuzu a number of times and have always enjoyed their food, however I will not be going back. Tonight, my girlfriend and I decided to go to Sushi Yuzu, and saw there was a quite a wait for a table so we opted for takeout. The server who was helping place our order let us know the food would take about 30 minutes to prepare, and delibrately took down our cell number to call or text when the order was ready. No problem there, however, as we waited close to an hour, my girlfriend and I felt maybe they had forgotten our order. Come to find out our food was sitting on a table in the middle of the restaurant for what seemed to be over 30-40 min. When we asked why they didn't text or call to let us know (like they had said), the same person who gave us the instructions smugly replied, "we're busy and we do not do such a thing". Are you kidding? You gave us those specific instructions! We didn't get an apology or any sort of answer other than to just deal with it. When we asked how long the bag was sitting there, the same guy goes, "uh, just like 5 minutes", when we had been staring at it for the 30 minutes we had been waiting. We would have asked earlier, but considering Covid and only allowing so few people in, we relied on the restaurant letting us know when it was ready like they had said. Then, when we asked for a refund and gave back the cold food, again there was no apology but instead a feeling of indifference and arrogance. We wern't looking for a free meal or anything, but certainly more than just a "take it or leave it" approach. Sadly, we will not be coming back to this awfully run establishment. We are not picky people, I get establishments can have off nights, but they could have cared less about their...
Read moreThe sushi here is, plain and simple, excellent. The fish is unequivocally fresh, the rice texture is on point, the sauces do not overpower or overwhelm the natural flavors of the fish itself; and the practice of adding thin delicate sheets of black truffle to your Nigiri for an added charge is a satisfying indulgence.
Now that we have established that the food is quite good, here are a list of very honest negatives: The restaurant is too small to have a pleasant meal in. Customers here tend to be loud, boisterous and often with a few too many alcoholic drinks in them. You see a lot of tipsy yelling and laughing. Not a fine dining vibe AT ALL. The tables are so close together, you have little to no privacy and feel sardined into your seat. The patio is just as loud and the tables feel cheap, wobbly and uncomfortable (some of them are literally plastic picnic tables). The wait is terrible. Even if they aren’t crowded, you’ll end up standing at the hostess stand 15-20 minutes before somebody decides to address you. The parking lot ALWAYS has some long and wide Mercedes or BMW parked right in the middle of 2 spaces. As a result, 4 cars fit into like 8 spaces. It’s not pretty and it’s not fun.
Basically, if you’re willing to spend forever parking, spend even longer waiting at the hostess stand, wait 45 min to get a table and then sit in the loudest, most headache inducing restaurant (with poor acoustics) then yes, you will get good sushi.
I hate the noise level and I still go back on occasion because I like the sushi that much. But I really hope they consider...
