Very cute cafe in Toluca Lake! My boyfriend recommended this place for us to try for brunch/lunch one day and I loved it!
This restaurant is owned by former Top Chef contestant Alex Eusebio.
They have a small patio outside and plenty of tables and booths inside. Great place for families, dates, catch up girl talks, or just reading the paper or a good book solo.
They have a coffee drink menu, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
Drinks: -Bundaberg drinks - Ginger Beer! So good. And what... they have a Peach drink?! -Iced Tea - Freshly brewed iced black tea. It's in a glass drink dispenser located in front of the kitchen. Self-served with free refills!
Sandwiches: $10-12 per entree -Chicken & Mushroom: Tasty! I got lucky that day and since they ran out of ciabatta bread, I got mine on a croissant! It was made out of grilled chicken, gruyere cheese, wild mushroom, aioli, fresh herbs, tomato on ciabatta. -Shrimp Po'boy: Very good! I enjoyed the flavor of the shrimp and the sauce. It was made out of cajun seasoned shrimp, chimichurri, crumbled chips, spicy aioli, lettuce, tomato on ciabatta.
Desserts: -Nutella Crunch Macaron - SO GOOD! I loved the nutella flavor. The cookie was nicely firm and had a slight crunch. The filling was creamy and chocolatey. -Salted Caramel Brownie - YUMMY! The cashier recommended this dessert when I told her I wanted something chocolatey and it did not disappoint. The brownie was nice and fudgy. The caramel added a nice layer of sweetness to it. Great choice for chocolate/brownie lovers!
Parking: There's a small lot in the back or you can try to find residential parking.
Overall, I would come back when I want to get a sandwich/salad and...
Read moreI love this place since it is walking distance from my office location and they have a different variety of food and drinks then some of my other favorite local spots.
The last two times I have ordered and picked up, I was unfortunately disappointed. I'm the type of guy who picks up his food, assumes it is right, walk back to my office and then sip my coffee or open the bag of food and find out what I ordered was wrong and have to think if I really want to walk all the way back or not to get it fixed which is frustrating.
The first mistake that was made was that I ordered a side of bacon and was so bummed when I did have my two bacon pieces in the bag. Also, I informed the guys at the restaurant about this, but when you order online, you do not have the option to choose a regular vanilla latte, just the lavender latte, which is not something I want a lot (so hoping to see that change).
A couple days ago, I actually walked to the restaurant and ordered a vanilla latte, which after getting back to my office I found out there was no vanilla in there. For some people, they might think oh well you still got the coffee...well for me I want to enjoy my coffee and flavor is important. It was sooo bland I could not drink it and that was disappointing.
I feel like it's a hit or miss. Will I go back? Yes I will, but it's not going to be my...
Read moreThe last time I ordered from here I arrived a few minutes earlier than my pick up time and noticed the fries were room temp. I asked the nice cashier/waitstaff if they could please be reheated as I didn't want to return to the office and hand out cold fries by then. He suggested next time I come 10 minutes prior to my pick up time because the food had been sitting out for at least that long in the bag under the AC (who knew?!). As he went to ask the kitchen staff, the short lady dressed in an all black chef uniform/chef hat refused to do so and through the glass looked like she was arguing w/him. He came back saying they're unable to, then when I was countering the refusal, she knocks on the glass gesturing to bring them back. In all, it took an additional 10 minutes from my early pick up to the time I could leave w/hot fries (while now the burgers are just getting cold). I asked the office if we could scratch that place from the lunch rotation after this experience. I would rather wait a few minutes for the food order to be completed than arrive a few minutes early to see that it has been sitting out for a while getting cold. If it's salads it's no big deal but cold burgers and...
