I used to love this place and shopped there often. They had wonderful deals. The clothes were in good shape and reasonable. I’ve gotten some beautiful jewelry there but something happened about 3 to 6 months ago. Either new management took over or executives at the top of this cancer research Thrift Store decided they needed a raise, more money for their salaries and decided to raise the prices on everything. A shirt that used to cost nine dollars is now $17 and it’s not even that great of a shirt. I’ve seen coats vintage coats that you can get online for $25 in perfect condition selling for $80- $100 at this cancer research Thrift Store. And they are not curated. They’re given to this organization for free.
I haven’t shopped there in six months. The prices are outrageous. They think they’re curating Vintage items that they purchased instead of a thrift shop getting free items to sell for cancer research.
I still go in there from time to time, to see if they’ve changed management by any chance, and find myself rolling my eyes at what they are asking for merchandise that you can get at any other thrift store for probably half the price. I can’t believe they get all this stuff for free and they’re trying to sell it as if they’re a curated vintage store. Get your old management back and get your...
Read moreAs with all Thrift stores, it's hit and miss depending on when you go and what you are looking for. So, I go to various Discovery stores at different times. If you see what you want, grab it. Otherwise, be prepared to go back a day later and the item will be gone. The issue with this particular Cancer Society Discovery store are the manager and some of the staff. I actually refused to go back to this particular store because of their uppity and rude attitude towards the shoppers, me included. Since the staff are usually volunteering their time, I have difficulty understanding why they would volunteer to work there if they, and its obvious to most everyone who visits, don't like people. I don't mind the slowness of the staff, it's quaint. I don't mind waiting to be rung up. I mean it can be busy when 4 or 5 people are in the store. I DO mind the attitude, though. The last time I was in the store (its been over a year), this one elderly lady wringing me up was so obnoxious, I told her I wouldn't be coming back. And I haven't. Until they wise up and the volunteers improve their demeanor, I will just have to be content with their other locations. Oh, they opened one in West Hollywood....
Read moreI have been shopping at this location since they opened. I donate and I buy. They have high quality furniture, dishes, glassware, clothing and odds and ends. I have purchased brand new couches, love seats, clothing from this store. The prices are incredible and the staff are extremely helpful. Most working there are volunteers. They sell gently used or new items. There was a Vera Wang dress hanging on the shelf with original tags on one visit. The quality here is better than most thrift shops and the money spent goes to...
