I used to go with family to a sushi place called Hikari Sushi in Montebello Town Center.
Unfortunately they closed down, so we found Samurai Teri & Roll at Soto St. in Boyle Heights. The quality of the food is good similar to Hikari Sushi.
Iām giving this bad review because theyāre so greedy for money. Iām vegetarian the only substitution that I always asked for is for my sushi, instead of crab I do avocado or cucumber roll. The only little thing that they have to do is take away the damn crab and add a veggie substitution. Guess what?? They want to charge me $4.00 just for doing that.
At Hikari sushi they used to do that for free, because itās not a big deal. Honestly, Iām saving them money, crab is way more expensive than cucumber and avocados.
They began charging me $1 and then $2, after that $3 within a period of 6 months, for me thatās crazy. So when they charge me $3.00 I kind of complain but I was ok.
Hell no, when they tried to charge me $4.00 I speak up and tell them so many things.
So, I will never buy from this place again. Me and my family are regular customers.
My family buys from them every week, Iām talking about $50 to $70 weekly spending. I donāt have any problem with that is their money.
I even told the owner of this place that. She told me ok we can make an exception and just charge you $3.00 and I told her no thank you, if my family wants to continue buying from you itās their choice not mine.
Just for reference the tofu special is $14.45 but they want to charge me $4.00 extra just for going that substitution. The bento box is $14.45 as well so thatās crazy that you guys want to charge $4.00 extra for doing something very simple.
Good bye forever and I will make that happen having my family not buy from you...

Let me first talk about the containers because since the pandemic Iāve had several instances where the broth melted them and the food was wasted. Samurai Ramen uses cardboard containers with plastic lids that donāt melt or spill. They pack their broth container in a bag and then use another one to pack it with the noodles. Their broth arrived boiling hot. The noodles were packed with all the ingredients and meat in a separate container. Despite the time it spent in the container the noodles were not overcooked and/or bloated.
The sushi bento box comes in a large container with all items separate from each other. The presentation in these bento boxes is top notch.
The Samurai Ramen is incredibly delicious. If youāve ever been to Daikokuya in Little Tokyo you will definitely find this restaurantās ramen equal or better tasting. Their pork belly melts in your mouth and is beautifully seasoned. Their ingredients tasted fresh and I enjoyed every bite. In addition, their portions are more than enough to fill up a very hungry belly.
Similarly, their bento box was fresh. Their California rolls were not salty and had the right consistency. The sushi melted in your mouth and their tempura was crispy. This bento box is also a very good size...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLooks like the new owners don't know how to treat customers or new employees. I have been coming here a few years now! And today was my last visit. My server was great, I was quick to tell she was new so I was very patient! She's not the reason I will not be returning, however while the guys behind the counter were making rude comments about her in mandarin, yes we knew a little mandarin and jeez! They were rude to a customer, who came back because some of her food wasn't properly cooked. Instead of apologizing and fixing the order, he yelled at the customer ! I have worked in hospitality for years and that was unprofessional and unacceptable! Also the so called dress rolls were pulled from the back and just...
