Subway — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I was buying a sandwich at this Subway, it was $9, but the card reader said $11.61.

Immediately I knew the math was off, because it should be $9.90 max.

I asked him, "Wait, isn't it $9?"

He replied, "It's with taxes and everything."

I looked at this discount Post Malone...

And then I looked at the screen again.

No back button, no option to pick a tip, he pre-picked it for me.

The only way to not pay it is to walk out or make a big deal out of it, meaning explicitly ask him to remove the tip, which most people don't do out of social decorum.

In the end, I just paid, because I didn't want to hold up the line.

This is deeply upsetting and extremely unprofessional.

When I go out, I'm looking to have a good time, not to be finessed of my money without my consent. All of a sudden, I have a 30% mandatory surcharge on my meal for no reason.

I won't be back at Subway, certainly not this branch... It left a very sour taste in my mouth.

I've also left a complaint on the Subway corporate website.

I'm ordinarily a very reasonable person, but this type of stuff really...

We couldn't believe that we were getting charged for ice! Yes, you read correctly.... ice. Isabel (Subway's staff) turned off the ice machine prior to me getting to it. I went back to the register and mentioned that they had ran out of ice and asked if they could go to the back and fill my water cup with ice. She stated that water cups were only for water and not ice with water so she needed to charge me for the ice (she was charging the same price as a soda cup). I thought that she was joking but she wasn't. I had her explain to me why she was charging for ice and she stated that she simply had to charge me for ice. She kept making a huge deal about it and reported that making a complaint wouldn't solve the issue. I can't believe what occurred. We have been going to this subway for about 8 years, we have always paid for our drinks and for extras. We have known this employee since she starting...

The sanwiches they make here are superb especially the one with meatballs, marinara sauce and the Italian bread with herbs. The staff who works here is also very friendly and helpful but this company is not what it used to be because back in the good old days they had quite alot of different kinds of potato chips to choose from but nowadays they only sell those hated potato chips with chile and they have discontinued my favorite cheese cheetos. The supposedly oatmeal cookies they make these days are only flour with lots of sugar and some rasins. They are the complete opposite of the delicious and crunchy cookies they used to sell in the good old days. They also sell a very sugary water bottle that they call lemonade. I sincerely hope that if and when the pandemic is gone everything in all businesses goes back to normal. Good...
