Got off the plane and headed straight to the new Sun Nong Dan location on Sawtelle. The staff said it only opened two days ago, and there were plenty of flower stands at the entrance to celebrate.
⌚️ Arrived on a weekday around 8 p.m. and waited about 10 minutes for a table. They offered free soda and candy while waiting, which was a nice touch.
🍴 The classic galbi jjim wasn’t as mind-blowing as I remembered — it’s always the “craving before eating” that’s the best part. The first couple of bites were great, but it got heavy quickly. The real standout was the lean, oil-free beef soup. Compared to another beef noodle place I had just the day before, the meat here stayed incredibly tender even after being cooked in the broth. And the portion size is very generous. We didn’t add extra meat — just the regular $17.99 bowl — and it still came packed. Every scoop was full of meat.
🅿️ Street parking exists but is tough to find. There’s valet out front for $5, which is honestly pretty reasonable.

Read moreYay for a solid new Korean soup spot on Sawtelle! The restaurant is beautifully renovated to give the vibes of Seoul/ktown. I love the open-air area with the vented roof, and today was a sunny day, it was open and ventilated! Staff were super friendly and service was on point. Only kink for the soft opening was the background kpop music being choppy, which is probably a connection issue.
Banchan game was strong with different kinds of kimchi, all fresh and punchy.
My group tried: #2 Chadol Seolleongtang ($19.99) #9 Oo Gu Ji Galbi Tang ($22.99) #7 Galbi Tang ($22.99) brown rice included The taste is similar to the other Sun Nong locations.
They’re open 24 hrs and will have valet parking soon for $5/car per our server. Excited to...
Read moreJust visited Sun Nong Dang Sawtelle by chance upon their new opening and had an amazing experience! Ordered the Mo Deum Soo Yook, which was divine and came with a great variety of tender meats and a rich, flavorful broth that hit all the right notes. The banchan were excellent — fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly balanced with the main dish.
The service was phenomenal — attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The atmosphere made me feel right at home, like dining at my Korean friends house growing up.
Overall, Sun Non Dang is a must-visit if you’re craving authentic Korean comfort food served with heart. I’ll definitely be...
