Sonoritas is the best. I'm a big guy and I need to eat a lot to get full. Hard to do that without either eating a lot of something that tastes bad but is cheap, or a lot of something that tastes good but is expensive. Sometimes I'm starving and want to go eat a huge meal, but there aren't a lot of quality and tasty options that will ACTUALLY fill me up. LA has a lot of overrated spots that charge triple and give tiny portions. Sonoritas is perfect because their food genuinely tastes like a fine dining restaurant, and it will keep you full the entire day. It doesn't taste like fast food; the ingredients they use are all fresh and quality. The burrito I get is only $13, which in my eyes, is extremely cheap to get a salivating meal that will keep you full the entire day. And unlike chipotle, they are VERY generous on portions. You get an insane amount of fresh steak and they load it with guac (based on what I get). But I have gotten other things on the menu and they are generous with everything. I live 30 minutes away and I gladly drive 30 minutes to eat here.
My recommendation: Carne Asada Burrito with Beans. I love rice but don't add rice, only add beans. Trust me.
The service is amazing, all the employees are awesome and do everything they can to get you seated. I used to go here about 5 days a week pre-pandemic. Now I go a couple times per month. Most of the employees know me, and if you decide to make this your go-to spot then they will definitely take care of you. But whether you're a regular or not, they will go above and beyond in taking care of you. I come back here not only for the food, but for the service and the...
Read moreSome seriously delicious tacos in Sawtelle. Actually everything we ate was better than we were expecting and we already want to go back to try more items. It’s more of a to go type of place but they do have seating inside as well. They have a fairly large menu but what makes them stand out is that they have premium ingredients like filet mignon for tacos, burritos, or bowls. There is a parking lot in the back that is for pay but otherwise street parking is easy to find in this area. It is a bit expensive for Mexican food, but they do have some great flavors. We placed our order to go and it was only about a 10 minute wait for all of our items so the service was very fast for us.
We wanted to try a few different items since it was our first time. We chose the Filet Mignon Burrito, which was probably my favorite because the meat was cooked perfectly and it was absolutely filled with avocado, which is one of my absolute favorite things to eat. We also ordered the Steak and Shrimp Taco which was very good and the Salmon Taco which was also light and tasty. Finally, we ordered the Asada Fries and really enjoyed them because they don’t skimp on the toppings. The portion sizes are not very large in comparison to some other places, but they certainly are not small.
Overall a really delicious spot, I would not say it’s the most authentic, but still worth trying because it really...
Read moreLeft disappointed. I was so excited about this restaurant bc I heard great things. You order then sit. If you're dine in, you get a number. If you're take out they'll call your name when its ready. Ordered three tacos. There was no wait to take my order. Guy gave me a number and said they'd bring it to me in 20 mins (which was much faster than the 40 min disclaimer on their menu.) I took my number and took my seat. Waited for 10 minutes and they brought out chips in salsa (free of charge) waited another 10 min and thought "im hungry and I wont rush them, I'll order guac while im waiting". Got my guac. While im waiting, the whole outside patio area cleared out and I was the only one there. The guys bussed the tables around me and saw my number still on the table. Now its an hour and I check on my food. Two guys look for my order bewildered. Then the guy that took my order looks in the takeout box and finds it. "Here you are." He says with a smile as if nothing was wrong. I explain to him that its been an hour and I have been waiting within his eye sight this whole time. He doesn't even know how long the food sat there. No apology. I was furious but I had already paid. When I finally ate my room temperature tacos. The salmon and lengua was just okay. The tirria y mar taco was great but wow!...
