On June 15, 2025 around 4:56 PM, I ordered a Taro Smoothie Cream with Brown Sugar Boba at this location. I am a dark-skinned Black woman, and the moment I walked in, the female employee โ who had been laughing and joking with her coworker โ suddenly became cold, rude, and visibly annoyed by my presence.
I requested a tea-based drink. She refused at first, until the male employee whispered to her to just use the tea base. She made it reluctantly, with a lot of ice, and only poured half the blender into the cup, discarding the rest. But the most disturbing part is this: she walked to the back of the store with my drink in hand at least three separate times, and turned her face directly into the cup each time before returning. Not once. Not vaguely. Three times. I will never forget the sight of her head turning downward into my drink. There was no need for that.
I tried to sip it to avoid conflict, but it was so watered down and strange that I went back in and asked for it to be remade. They refused. I pointed out the change in attitude from when I walked in to how I was now being treated. Instead of addressing my concerns, they dismissed them and offered a refund instead. I accepted the refund and threw the drink away in their trash can before leaving.
By the next day I was coughing and had stomach pain, which has now lasted over two weeks. I have not eaten out since this incident. I strongly believe something was done to my drink. Iโve filed a complaint with the LA County Health Department and am sharing this to protect others.
If something feels off โ trust that. I wish I had. I regret drinking anything from this place. I hope...
ย ย ย Read moreBest boba in la and Ventura county. Sweet boba but the drink isnโt overwhelmingly sweet like most places. I usually get 50% sweet at other shops but I do 75% here. The owners are the sweetest young couple (EVEN sweeter than the boba xD) and they always brighten my day. Real tea, strong, can totally replace your morning coffee! The non dairy creamer is ACTUALLY VEGAN which is such a relief. Most places either donโt know or say itโs vegan when it actually has animal product in the non dairy creamer (bon bon Iโm looking at you... they used to mark a bunch of stuff vegan on their menu that just wasnโt). The boba still has honey in it but I make the exception because boba is my favorite. Try the oolong/earl grey milk tea (all their teas are fantastic seriously). Also love the real fruit teas and matcha latte. Perfect in every way Iโve been waiting for a boba like this for so long ever since bounce and bon bon fell off the quality wagon. You will not be disappointed. I have friends that make the drive out here from DTLA because...
ย ย ย Read moreWow, where do I even begin with this place? This is my favorite local Boba shop. Its so nice and its thankfully just down the street from my house. I passed by it for the first time on Ventura Boulevard heading home from a hike once and noticed this gigantic glowing โBOBAโ sign they had for their grand opening a few years back And i have been a loyal customer ever since ha ha ha. Their drinks are delicious and you can modify their sweetness level and they also have plenty of good add-ons and toppings, a great selection of milk teas, fruit teas, slushyโs, smoothies, etc., my two favorite drinks there are the lavender milk, tea, and the sunset, galaxy tea. also the owner Athena is so sweet and welcoming and all of their associates and workers are so welcoming and fun and so sweet and I highly recommend this place to anybody. They even have a nice little patio for you to enjoy your Boba. 10/10 would...
