Ok, where did this place come from? Wow! Do yourself a favor, if you're near by, come and check it out. Recently visited this place with my love, we arrived at around 4pm on a Sunday and were promptly greeted and shown to a patio table. The weather was perfect for sitting outside. The menu was a single sheet of double sided paper with a good wine list on the back along with bottled beers. The front featured food and specials. We noticed the menu had a date, so it changes daily. We ordered a beer flight, fish and chips, sliders, and pork belly. OMG, we were well into our beers when the food arrived, and that first bite sealed the deal. The potatoes in the fish and chips were perfect, crispy on the outside, soft but not over done on the inside. They were square wedges cleverly arranged on the plate. The cod was just as good, flaky and moist, with a crispy batter shell. The Wurstershire came in a tiny spray bottle. 10 out of 10. The sliders? Forget about boring dry chunks of meat, these were braised short rib sliders, amazingly moist on a warm sweet bun that played well with the flavors of the braise. Now my love would argue this point because shes from England and the fish and chips were so good she would "bring my mom here" but the absolute show stopper was the pork belly. No matter how descriptive I get here, I'm not going to do it justice, but these amazing perfectly rendered and seasoned cubes of mana from heaven were the best pieces of pork belly I ever greedily shoved in my mouth. Absolutely ****** amazing! Must come eat this now!!

It's a good "Hipster Classy" spot for beverages and food. Pros: Good Ambiance, feels like a "healthy/ organic food spot, beverages are decently priced on the Happy Hour menu. Cons: portion size is small for happy hour food, and the parking sucks. Ugh. The happy hour is great, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The food is great, and this place could totally be 5 stars, if they just increased the value a little bit. The pricing is on point, $5, and then $9- $10 for most happy hour food items. I just wish the quantity and sizing was a little bit bigger. The Taste is great, and I just want more of it to make it a true happy hour "value" experience. 5pm during the week is pretty quiet. But this place really comes alive after 6:30 or so. The space is huge! Love the square bar shape, which leaves plenty of room to mingle around. One other gripe I have is the parking situation. A lot of these surrounding houses and streets have blocked off parking because of the surge of people going to the Local Peasant. So it's metered street parking, otherwise you're walking quite a bit. In a perfect world, it would be nice if this place relocated, and got into a place where there was tons of FREE parking, for at least 2 hours, THREE or 4 preferred. Maybe move it to the Village on Topanga and Victory? I mean, it would be LEGENDARY if it was there.

A very special place. Seems a bit hidden from the outside but is really spacious with a huge bar in the middle. It has the perfect mix of crowded but not too loud. Good music but still able to talk. And they offer a lot of different types of beer. I tasted some of them and as a German I have to say that they have quite interesting types. We were there in the later evening but coming earlier I would have ordered a coffee tasting beer. Just amazing. The bartender knew a lot about brewing beer and was very helpful and competent. Unfortunately we have already eaten before but the nice smell of food made us taste some fries. I am vegan and they offer enough food to survive. Next time I see forward to try the impossible burger that is on the menu. Prices are in a normal range. Most expensive beer is about 9 Dollar, less expensive is 7. The staff was quick, nice and smart. People going there seem to be between 30 and 40 years, so it is young but has no big hipster touch. I would go there even alone hanging at the bar and having a good craft beer. Thanks for a nice evening!

I'm reviewing specifically their promise of brunch.

We came because we saw an advertisement for delicious looking ricotta pancakes that when we arrived we found out they discontinued. So it started out as a bit of a bummer, but we decided to stay any way.

Our server, Jade, was really sweet and so were the runners that helped out. I have no issues with the service, they were helpful people.

First, for a place advertising their brunch they don't have decent coffee. It's drip "I've been sitting in the pot for 10 hours" coffee. Brown acid. It's not even on the menu to hide their shame, I just had the misfortune of asking if they had coffee. So if you've never been here, they are primarily a bar, which I didn't know. If you want a Bloody Mary you're fine, but avoid the coffee. We ordered chilaquiles and crab cakes Benedict. My partner said the chilaquiles aren't saucy at all like you'd expect but were still pretty good. The crab cakes Benedict is $21 for hollandaise sauce you can't taste, a decent poached egg, a sweet crab cake the size of a Sacagawea dollar and a hard sourdough puck of bread. Served with a side of sweet pickled peppers pico. It ended up like a sweet appetizer more than breakfast. It came with O'Brian potatoes to fill you up I guess. It was just very much not what I expected. So if you want savory this isn't it. If you want something more like civiche this is for you. Though they really should do something about the bread.

The atmosphere - typical bar in Cali, high ceiling, open concept, airy so that it sounds a million times louder than it should, and a ton of giant flat screen TVs. Good for a bar, not the best for brunch. Also parking leaves much to be desired, but that's the valley for you.

Overall, not terrible,...

I've been a loyal customer at the local peasant for over a year, visiting almost daily and spending thousands of dollars, including over $2,000 for my birthday party here. The food is consistently excellent, the waiters are attentive, and the bar staff are fantastic--shoutout to Chris, ish, and Troy, who's always are a highlight! I truly love this place and have brought my family, including my young son, here regularly. Unfortunately, my experiences have been blurred and altered by the manager, Eric. His behavior has been consistently unprofessional and disrespectful. On one occasions, he's been reported in the women's bathroom, which is deeply concerning. He's also made baseless insinuations about us, which is offensive and unwarranted. Most recently, during a visit with my 6-year-old son, he was doing online tutoring at a table just 20 feet away from me in what I've always considered a safe environment. Eric approached me, stating I couldn't leave my child "alone," despite him being in the resturanut and engaged in a 15-minute session. Shockingly, he then told my son he had to leave, and the tutor reported a "large man" insisted my son, Bennet, get out. This was handled in an unnecessarily aggressive and disrespectful manner, especially toward a loyal customer. It's disheartening because this place feels like a second home, but Eric's behavior makes it hard to return with confidence. I hope the owners address this issue, as the rest of the staff and experience are truly top-notch. I'd love to give five stars, but until this is resolved, I can't fully recommend the...
