We ate here on a Sunday at 1 pm and had a terrible service experience. There were 4 of us. We placed two separate orders at the front counter and had them put both orders under the same table # sign (labeled “squash”) so that they were both delivered to our the same table. After the host sat us and we had received our drinks, a woman came to let us know that they had run out of the eggs benedict my partner had ordered. She asked if he’d like to order something else instead. When he said yes, we expected to be given a menu but instead she stared at him blankly. He then told her he doesn’t know what else he wants without a menu and she told us to scan the QR code on our table sign and place the order through the website. She told us we would be refunded for the original eggs benedict. A little while later, the couple we were dining with received their order. They didn’t begin eating as they were waiting for us to receive our food as well. Then a man who said he was a manager came to our table and told us that they were out of the eggs benedict and asked if we’d like to order something else. We told him we were already notified of this and had placed a new order. He seemed very confused and asked if we had been refunded. I told him I didn’t see a pending refund on my banking app yet. He then said that he had issued the refund himself as the first thing he did when he arrived for his shift that day. We believed him and told him we were all set because we had already placed another order. He did not notice that the couple we were with had received their food long before us. After over 20 minutes had passed (at this point our friends were forced to just start eating without us), a food runner brought over two plates of food. These plates were not what we had ordered, but instead duplicates of what our friends had ordered. We let him know that these were not ours and he was very confused. He made us recite what we had ordered, which was difficult because the names of the dishes weren’t in front of us and we had to pull up the QR code and search for the items on the menu. We felt like they should have record of what we ordered. After another ten minutes, my partner’s order was delivered, but mine still had not been. Upon delivering my partner’s food, the food runner let our friends know that he believed they had been double charged for their meals, because the cooks had received two tickets for that order and that is why it was brought out twice. They asked to speak with a manager to figure this out. Instead, the food runner said he would have someone at the front check if they had been charged twice and the manager would only come over if a double charged was found. So we were just supposed to assume that no news was good news and trust that they had checked on this without any confirmation. When I finally received my food, it was at least 40 minutes after our friends had first gotten theirs. Then, my partner realized he had also ordered a side of biscuits that he never received. No one came to check on us at all so it was hard to find someone to tell this to. Finally, when we were almost done eating, someone came over to ask if we wanted any to go boxes. My partner said actually he had never received part of his order. A few minutes later he was given burnt and cold biscuits. We left completely unsatisfied. We had eaten our meals at completely different times than our friends. I still do not see a refund pending on my credit card for the eggs benedict. The food was pretty good, but I will never come back knowing that it is a risk that you may be charged additionally for things you didn’t order or not get things...

Your response is filled with lies. I didn’t eat the quiche. I dug through it looking for the ham before I made the walk back to return it. I didn’t whisper and no one repeated the order to me. What’s the excuse for the poor service every other occasion? Check the reviews you’re getting. This isn’t an isolated thing and trying to shame me and turn it around doesn’t address the issues you’re having. I didn’t “demand a refund” I simply stated I didn’t have time to wait again for a new order. I made sure not to be rude or aggressive. I stated matter of fact what I wanted and left…hungry. He didn’t ask me to repeat myself. And when I returned it he initially tried to blame the kitchen until I pointed out the ticket stapled to the bag showing him it was his error when he entered it and then he finally owned his error. Maybe he was the one in a “daze.”
I officially loathe this place. I’ve been trying and trying due to proximity but this place is just frustratingly terrible. I ran over for a slice of quiche as I figured it would be the quickest thing to warm up and go. I order the Ham. Guy says to check back in ten minutes. Ok. 15 min go by and nothing. I stand around waiting and it’s been about 20. Another woman had gone to check and she said 2 min. Turns out it was on the back counter. I run back to work and of course he placed the order for veggie so it was the wrong one. Normally I’d eat it and take the loss but this place is not cheap for what you get so I run it back for a refund. I don’t have another 20 min to stand around so I’ll just go hungry. But here’s the thing. There’s always something with this place. You place a delivery order and they pack the drinks in the same bag as the food so it spills and you get soggy food. Last time I was there the barista was coughing up a lung into the drinks so I turned around and left. I’m just so sick and tired of this half a* place. I’m used to paying way too much for food but this place is just completely lacking at this point. Offering me a pastry isn’t gonna...
Read moreThis place is really a gem. Let me give you the rundown on what to expect. I visited Sweet Butter Kitchen about a week ago. The food was so good that I forgot to get a picture of my meal. I had to snap a picture of a friend’s dish who had been sitting across from me.
First let’s talk about parking. There’s enough parking in the area to snag a spot nearby. Although the parking outside is metered, if you choose to eat outdoors, you can likely skip having to pay the meter because you can see your car from the restaurant. Do this at your own risk.
Ordering: Once you’ve viewed the menu inside, you’ll place an order with the cashier. The cashier then gives you a table number sign that you’ll place at your table of choice. This is done so that the waiter/waitress can find you when bringing your food. Near the register are beverages. You have a range of choices from water, sparkling, juice and more.
Seating: The outdoor tables at Sweet Butter Kitchen can accommodate two people. If there is no one at the table next to you, you can combine tables for a bigger party. Most of the seating is chairs. However, outside the restaurant on the Ventura Blvd side, there’s a couch on both sides of the entrance. These seats are much more comfortable.
Food: The French Toast was amazing. It was accompanied by a side of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. They were scrumptious. In my opinion, the pancakes were even better. They were fluffy, buttery and golden. If you order the pancakes or French Toast, I suggest ordering them alone before adding any extras. The French toast and pancakes itself are enough to fill you up.
Overall, this is a great restaurant. There aren’t too many places that serve breakfast all day. The food is tasty, parking is accessible and there’s no telling what A list celebrity you may see...
