January 6, 2017 UPDATE REVIEW
Ok... raising my 4 star to a 5 star. The Bric's have been busy bees this past year and there have been some great improvements, so I thought it was time to change my review to reflect all that hard work!
We've been going to Gary Bric's Ramp for many years. My husband has been going for several decades (before it was Gary Bric's). I love this place! The food is amazing.
We always get the large portion dinner plate and have them split it for us. Ample food for both of us. Dinners come with bread rolls, steamed vegetable, potato option (twice baked, baked, french fries, rice) and soup or salad. The steaks are great, but we go for the amazing fish! I've had all the versions of every catch and they are all excellent. I think I'm most partial to stuffed sole or the Chilean seabass. All their sauces for fish options can be interchanged. Say you like the sauce on the salmon but want seabass?... just let them know. We almost always get "CALIFORNIA STYLE". It's not always on the menu, but they always have it. They add $3 to the large meal but it's so worth it! Yummy krab, fresh avocado, and hollandaise sauce. Mmm mmm mmmm!
Other great options, we like, are the steamed clams and clam chowder soup! I've been all over Massachusetts and their steamed clams & chowder blow away any restaurant on the east coast! We are also very fond of the bar menu. Some nights we just go in for a burger and a fish sandwich with fries, onion rings...or our favorite "frings". Yup...it's a deal, under $10. Cheaper than fast food! And WWAAAYYY BETTER!
The bar is a casual, friendly and inviting place to belly up to the bar and grab a drink,.. sit at a copper top high top or table and grab a meal and watch the game on the multiple flat screen tv's,.. or meet up with friends before dinner.
The wait staff is always very busy, but incredibly nice. You can't miss Shelly, the owner's wife, running around taking orders, getting drinks and greeting customers. Tonight we were served by Alicia. We've seen her face around, but today I got her name. She was very friendly and attentive. PERFECT!
The drinks have gone up in price over the years, but you're going to get a nice drink for the increased price. (We've been coming here for so for years, prices going up was bound to happens) Still a deal considering. And now that we're older, we're not sucking down so many anymore anyways lol! Love my Manhattans, and Gary knows how to make a good one. Still wish they'd carry Jim Beam, but the Makers Mark is a good substitute.
Gary, the owner and former Mayor of Burbank, can be seen chatting with people at the bar while mixing drinks or working the parking lot to get as many cars into the lot as possible.. especially on a Saturday night.
The biggest change that I'm really loving is the updated decorations and overall look of the dining room. The cool photos of yesteryear are a great addition and I can only hope they continue to bring in these treasured photos of our beautiful city, framed in modern black frames against the natural wood walls. They've also added small vases of (artificial, but very nice) flowers that create a much softer and inviting ambience.
We love this place and definitely feel everyone should stop in... sit at the bar, watch a game and mingle with the local Burbankians. We are friendly folk and love to start a conversation up with anyone willing to listen!
It's always good to make a reservation!!... but if you haven't, don't let it stop you from doing in.
A TRUE GEM...
Read moreMe and a coworker came here this past Friday and from the outside it doesn’t look like anything special but the inside is quite charming. The bar area is a bit random but very enjoyable aesthetically with some artistic stuff and sports stuff around then the further dining area is very classy and makes you feel a bit like, you were in Italian restaurant now. The server was very soft-spoken. It was hard to hear him and he asked us if we wanted cheesy garlic bread to start. My coworker said yes and he was on his way. However, there is a half size and the whole size for this garlic bread he never asked what size we wanted and brought us out the big one that seems a little underhanded since there was no talk about price or anything but not that big of a deal. The food was pretty OnPoint. We both were on happy hour, so we both got the French dip. The dip itself was very good not too salty just right for me. The meat was cooked very well. It was tender and the bread was soft and delicious as well. I would give it a solid four out of five the french fries, five out of five and the garlic bread five out of five overall, it was a good experience would definitely come again. I would like to try more of their Italian...
Read moreI often say you can tell a lot about people by the reviews they write. I hope you can tell from mine that I love good food! The Ramp offers incredible food and drinks, plus attentive service. After two of our fave Italian restaurants closed, we went without for a few years. We learned about this place (on an episode of Rockford Files, no less!) and knew we had to try it.
The dishes we’ve enjoyed here include Chicken Parmigiana, Garlic Cheese Bread, Side Salad, Seafood Combination, plus the Steak and Shrimp. All of the food was simply fantastic and priced appropriately. We’ve also had some desserts here and I can’t recall what they were other than delicious! The warm atmosphere and romantic music in the dining room make for a great date night.
I don’t understand other reviewers’ concerns about the valet. We’ve never had an issue. The parking lot is tiny and an economy with plenty of jobs is a healthy one. People need to work in a capitalist society; calm down. Since baseball season is getting started soon, we plan to come back and watch some Dodgers games in the bar. Whether you’re looking for superb dining or a relaxed bar to watch your fave sport, you can’t go wrong...
