Tonir Cafe — Restaurant in Burbank

Really good Armenian food. Portions are very large. Had a combo plate and dark Czech beer. Meal included the pork skewer and beef lule, both were perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and full of flavor. Came with a salad with a great vinaigrette, olives, cheese, tomatoes and Armenian cucumbers. It also came with to pitas and 2 sides. I chose the humus which was smooth and tasty. Also got the roasted eggplant "Ikra" and wow! Smokey, peppery, just the right mix of tomatoes ground with love. I will do double Ikra next time!

It appears the restaurant has turned more take out style (COVID change??). Order at counter and food delivered to table in to go containers. Place was extremely clean and staff were wonderful. My only recommendation to the owners is to invest in better plastic ware, made eating...

Could have received the 5th star if there was more value in the meal. I bought the Chicken and Beef Shish combo plate and only got 4 pieces of beef when I should've been given 5. Aside from missing that piece of beef I was also given maybe 2 spoonfuls of Tabule. You'd expect a fuller plate as the partition on the plate could've easily held at least 4 times the amount given. Especially when I look at some of the photos posted by other Yelpers, seems like they received a lot more than I did.

As far as the quality and taste of the food, I can't complain. Definitely delicious, but you could get so much more and just as good, if not better, at Zankou Chicken paying a few dollars less. It's got the air of a hole in the wall restaurant from the outside, but do not judge them by the exterior. it really does have the best Mediterranean food in the area. They have a vegetarian plate which is really just the sides grouped together as a single plate, so my vegetarian friends weren't overly impressed, but I love the lule, the kabobs, and the sides are super flavorful even if not filling by themselves. The salmon also got high marks from my friend. The prices are reasonable too.

It's in an industrial area where there aren't many comparable options nearby and the locals like this place so be prepared. If you get there at noon, you should get a table without too much trouble. Get there at 12:30 though and you might...
