WaBa Grill — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Food is good, not great, but the atmosphere is really bad because of the horrible choice of music. Obviously they are playing it for themselves and not for the customers because no one would choose music like that for customers. It seems like the same bad song over and over, pounding drums and somebody yelling (not singing) off key. I just wanted to finish my food quickly and get out of there.

Service was OK but they can't seem to bother to utter a single smile, and they made me feel like I was bothering them.

The worst part was that they didn't know their own exterior sineage and they ended up charging me for something that was supposed to be free with an order of a bowl. I asked for the "healthy option on the go" that was painted outside on the glass by the front door, and they had no clue what I meant. Then I pointed out that per Google search result which I showed them, with the bowl I was supposed to get 5 free dumplings but I didn't, and they ended up charging me a small fee for them because they didn't know how the coupon worked.

The place was pretty clean though the missing ceiling tile and some stained ceiling tiles didn't really look good.

Too many things adding up to a bad enough experience that I won't be back there anymore. No wonder the place was...

Checked out Waba Grill for the first time since the pandemic. Always thought the food was slightly above average, never disappointed at all really. So today I popped in (April 12, 2021). I noticed that they finally have indoor seating, limited to 20 guests at a time. The tables are spaced out a considerable distance. I decided on the sweet and spicy chicken bowl with veggies and white rice. Total after tax was $9.19. I guess that's fair, as the bowl is pretty decently sized.

On to the food: The chicken was really good. A great combination of sweet and heat (4/10 on the spicy scale. Anyone who likes spicy stuff should find it satisfying, though it's not super hot, which is a good thing). The veggies are steamed or blanched - can't tell. Either way, they're crispy while still being cooked. I liked them a lot.

All in all, come stop by if you're craving a decent rice bowl. Nice flavor, well put together, maybe a bit more expensive than it should be but not too bad!...

When curbside pick up is offered, the order is placed, a time for pick up is provided, the parking space directly on front of the store is used, no signs are posted outside the restaurant as directed for pick up parking, and you wait, and wait as per direction, then you call and the phone goes unanswered. Only the cook and counter girl are in the store, other customers are inside. I go in, am treated as if I am a burden to the counter person, I guess it is my problem they are short st aza effed and cannot honor the method of pick up that they offer. I chose curbside because of mobility issues, I chose that location because they offer the service. To not get the service is one thing, to be treated rudely is another.
