My husband and I were going to Blue Tomato when they first opened and loved it. Many many years later, he's deceased and I just moved into the area. It's a small comfort to know they're still around. Took my gorown daughter here last week and we had a great meal. Ordered fish tacos, redfish. UPDATE: Went here alone last Friday to get two of the specials, Tequila Lime Chicken and Smothered Chicken. Stayed a while had a great margarita. Got home and honestly felt like I was being punked. A styrofoam container overflowing with...just junk. Bottled BBQ sauce, a LOT of BBQ sauce overflowed onto the table with some melted cheese and red/white slices of onion? Rice and beans in there somewhere. I was aghast. THIS was supposed to be Tequila Lime Chicken? Took pics before shoving into garbage can. I am just....never seen such an insult on a plate. Opened the "smothered chicken". I was "warned" the chicken was not in pieces, but as a sliced chicken breast. Again. I can only accept this as some sort of insult, left wondering what I could have possibly said or done to deserve this mass of gelatinous beige gravy(?) on a plate, which pretty much covered anything else. I just moved into the neighborhood, and my daughter and I made a point to over-tip both times I came here just as a show of solidarity for both a local and a women-owned business. I am just...SMH. I can't give this place, a place that held good memories from years ago even one star. I can only advise avoiding the food. Have a drink, but...
Read morethis place has been right under my nose for 3 years living in Louisiana and today we decided to give it a try. I was anything--but disappointed. the food was amazing. The staff was friendly and the wait time was nothing. but let's get back to this food. my husband and daughter got hamburgers and cheeseburgers their faces exploded with joy from the Flavor impact they got from one bite. my ten-year-old daughter is quite picky about her hamburgers and she said these were out of the park phenomenal and she loved that they hooked her up on the pickles. I got the meatball parmesan which is what the server recommended as her favorite Italian Dish and told me I would for sure have leftovers. May thinking this woman doesn't know who I am or my pasta abilities LOL couldn't possibly know that I would have leftovers but she was 100% correct it was a massive portion for very cheap. and talk about delicious every single and shove the meatball is loaded with flavor and spices and seasonings that make it soft melted in your mouth perfection. and the sauce is to die for not too sweet not too Tangy perfect for marinara lovers. I 100% recommend this place for a non disappointing dinner. don't waste your money on fast food the burger is only five or six bucks and it's 10 times the size of a...
Read moreThe food wasn't as great as I hoped it would be. The service staff was awesome though. Super friendly and nice, fun to chat with... but when it gets down to the food, it wasn't good in the slightest.
I ordered some enchiladas and not even five minutes later, it was ready. Don't get me wrong, i'm all for speedy service, but think about it... how on Earth could food possibly be done THAT FAST? Here's the answer: I happened to notice the cook place my plate in the microwave... And it wasn't just my plate. They were using that thing like it was going out of style with multiple dishes.
When I got my plate it was burning hot but the food was room temperature and kinda gross. This was to be expected since it was microwaved, so I should've known better.
I definitely wouldn't eat here again. The food was just terrible. Why go someplace that uses a microwave when I could just do that at home? We all know what microwaved food taste like. It doesn't come anywhere near what actual cooked food taste like.
If you're reading this and you work at this establishment, please, PLEASE... Throw away your microwave. You do NOT need it to make good food. If anything, it makes it worse.
Long story short: Excellent staff. Terrible...
