I had a muffuletta, a New Orleans original sandwich invented on Decatur St in the French Quarter. I’ve had the Muffuletta downtown at Central Grocery where they were invented and they’re good. Cooter Brown’s muffulettas are better than Central Grocery. I love muffulettas. The one I had at Central Poboys was the best I’ve ever had. Seriously. It was more than delicious. I’ve been there twice and both times had the muffuletta. My only critique is that the second one I had was too “central” (pardon the pun). By that I mean that the meat, although plentiful was extremely thick on the inner sandwich and sparse on the outer sandwich. One reason these muffulettas stand out here is because the thickness of the meat along with the melted cheese makes for fantastic first bites but last bites are virtually devoid of meat. However, a little bit or rearranging the sandwich remedies this problem and it’s still thick and plentiful on the inside. I highly recommend their...
Read moreWe were recommended this place by one of our nurses at Ochsner when we were trying to figure out where to get a good catfish poboy, so we decided to go here to eat. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. As soon as we walked in, I fell in love with the cozy natural style/layout of the place; it reflects authenticity. Nothing fancy but feels like home. I ordered the alligator sausage poboy with fries daily special (with no mayo but remoulade sauce instead) and tea, my mom the catfish poboy with fries, and my dad the whole fried chicken plate with fries and side salad. Everything was hot, fresh, and plentiful! The alligator sausage poboy was great! (I put mustard and a little hot sauce on mine. [Made it even better] Lol) The fries were good. My dad's fried chicken was piping hot fresh out the grease but crispy, juicy, and flavorful! My mom also enjoyed her catfish poboy. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive, too! We will...
Read moreWe had out-of-town visitors and one of them to experience eating Po-Boys. Our favorite spot, Red Wagon in Harahan, closes early on Saturdays so we want online to find another place nearby. We ordered onion rings to munch on while we waited for our food. The Po-Boys you are terrible. The bread was mushy, the shrimp we're not breaded and fried well. We apologize to our guests and told them next time they were in New Orleans we would take them to a restaurant with better food. The restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere and the staff what's courteous. We did not complain about the quality of the food because we believe this is their normal fare. We are giving a rating of two stars due to cleanliness, atmosphere, and the staff. Do not come...
