Big easy swamp adventures — Local services in Metairie

I do not like giving 1 star reviews but let me explain. We had done a swamp tour 11 years ago in the New Orleans area and loved it! It was the highlight of our trip through the South. Because it was a little further from the French Quarters area, we decided to try something a little closer. This tour sounded close but it took us 40 minutes to get there (traffic on the freeways was a little crazy). We arrived early to make sure we didn't miss the boat and when we arrive we were told that due to suome circumstances out of their control, they were running behind (ended up being 45 minutes behind). They had know about this for quite a while and we felt like they should have texted us and let us know so we didn't have to sit and wait for another 45 minutes beyond what we were expecting. Once we got on the boat the captain gave us the disclaimer that this is "not a gator tour", it is a swamp tour. The boat was extremely noisy (they had ear muff to wear), therefore the captian could not give us information while we were moving of what we were seeing. The tour was advertised as 90 minutes, but we were only on the boat for 60 minutes. We saw one aligator in the swamp water and then two more at the dock area when we arrived back (we could have see those without paying for the boat tour). We didn't see any sankes or eagles. I think we saw one turtle. Overall, we were very disappointed with this experience and felt we should have received a refund of part of our $85 per person. We decided the next day to go do the tour we had done 11 years ago ($25 per person) on a smaller, quieter boat with a great guide and it was as amazing as it was the first time. Both times we saw probably around 30 aligators (large and small), a bald eagle both times, probably 25 turtles and lots and lots of birds of different kinds and the guide was excellent. I took the small swamp boat tour and hesitantly sat on the front row. Wow!!! Absolutely LOVED it!! Captain Shawn's knowledge of the swamp and gators combined with his navigational skills with the air boat were top-notch! I had no idea an air boat would continue to function on mud! There are many swamp tours with different companies but this one was an A plus!! Thank you all for this amazing...
