We have been enjoying the roast beef sandwich and it's choice of french bread since before it was voted the best roast beef in the greater New Orleans area. We travel from Des Allemands to MARRERO quite often and have purposefully driven MANY miles just to get these roast beefs. We have shared our secret po boy location with MANY friends and family members. In the past it deserved that title. However, it has gone downhill in the past year for sure. Today's roast beef was pulverized. Seriously had the consistency of baby food or potted meat. Barely any meat. Zero gravy and a garbage can worthy slice of tomato with maybe 10 withered shreds of lettuce. We purchased side gravy because of last visit's dryness of po boy. The gravy was a substandard gel goo. Everyone knows how important a perfect po boy experience is. We will find another place to spend our money. This place took an INCREDIBLE recipe and altered it drastically. Our friends have been searching for another BEST PO BOY location. It was great while it lasted. Too bad, success has killed them. When you unlock your door everyday trying to close it sooner and take more days and time off, you will and have successfully lessened your product and achieved your failure. Bon appetit...Just saying... SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. PS ... The...

I’m beyond confused as to how this place has over 4 stars.

This place is FILTHY. I’d be terrified to see the kitchen:

*The windows are dirty (see photos) with greasy hand prints and literal dirt.

*The chairs are stained and ripped with dirty handprints on the backside where people grab them to slide them out.

*I walked in at opening (11am) and there were tables that hasn’t been cleaned since the last time they were open.

*There’s Christmas trees still up covered in dust.

*And annoyingly they put exterior security cameras with motion sensor light indoors. There was more than one and it gets you right in the eye if you’re at the wrong angle.

!! But to the FOOD REVIEW !!

Third customers in the door and our food wasn’t hot. (We got fries and roast beef po boys)

The roast beef and gravy just seemed rather bland. Making putting deli meat in McCormick gravy and serving it. No added seasoning.

The fries were half cooked.

The only pluses were the bread being good and the portion being an average size. (Which is why they got 2 stars)

Overall the place looks...

We were very hungry after the swamp tour we went to early in the morning and tried this place. We knew as soon as we entered that it was a friendly family business. Since we didn't know much about the food culture here, the young guy at the cash register gave us some good recommendations. Our food was great, fresh and piping hot. Afterwards, the owner visited one of our tables and asked if everything was okay. This is very important to me because no place in America comes and asks if we liked it. This means they value what they do and get feedback from us. If I lived here, they would be my neighbors who I would visit regularly once a week...

Oh my goodness!!!! We walked in at a crazy time and the woman behind the counter was still incredibly sweet and helped us order. The roast beef poboys (which we both ordered) and fried pickles were just amazing. Crunch on the crust of the bread, the perfect amount of gravy and fresh tomatoes made the sandwich hard to put down. But... THE FRIED PICKLES AND THE DIPPING SAUCE! They were not overly breaded, nicely seasoned and crispy. The sauce is made in house and is the BEST sauce for pickles I have ever had. It is creamy, full of fresh dill and just fabulous. Will definitely be back for a repeat visit when we are in the area.
