We visited on a Friday around 6:45pm. This was our first time visiting in years. The reason we stopped ordering/visiting was because the prices were getting outrages for the dishes that mostly consisted of inexpensive foods (i.e. rice, beans, and tortillas). They also didnt have kid meals so our order was usually over $100 for 4 adult meals, eventhough we had 2 kiddos. Several things have changed since our last visit, though. Food The food has always been good. I dont remember if they used to give 3 dips with the chips, but we had 1 bean and 2 salsas. They also have a green salsa, that you need to request, if you like things spicy. It is pretty spicy but also good. The chips tasted house-made. I ordered the flautas which dont come with rice and beans, but are still filling. My husband ordered the shrimp cocktail which was a good size. He had enough to share with me. I was surprised by the kid's meals. They are a decent size and did fill up my good eaters. They are also under $6, which is great! Im glad they added kid meals to help the customers save a bit of money. We were too full to order dessert. Service The service was great! Our dishes came out fairly quickly and our server checked up on us throughout our visit. Environment They have updated the restaurant from how I remember it. Now it looks brighter, probably because of all the white (i.e. walls and chairs). When we arrived it was fairly empty but, pretty quickly, filled up. They do have a bar at the center of the restaurant. On this visit, we did not use the restrooms so i cannot comment on the cleanliness of those. The restaurant itself, looked clean. They had a band playing outside, for those that like live music. Although we only passed by, as we exited the restaurant, they sounded decent, but it was a bit too loud for me. Cost They have competitive prices compared to Herradura Mexican Restaurant. Especially now that they have kid meals on their menu. Our total, for the 2 adult and 2 kid meals, was a little over $50. Overall, we were satisfied and will definitely be coming back...
Read moreThe food has always been very good but the service at the Luling restaurant has not been up to par. When we had complained that we had to wait over an hour for drinks and food the manager became very aggressive and actually rushed the table and began yelling at us. He then left the table and then came back to the table with several different waiters and mind you they were very big men and had begun yelling that if we didn't like it then we could leave. He then tried to dominate a female at our table by standing over her and yelling at her. He then proceeded to the end of the table and started flinging his arms in another females face while yelling that if we don't like it then leave. My son then had to stand up and confront the guy because he kept yelling at the women at our table and then said that it only took 25 minutes for our food to come out. We were seated at 12:45. Our drink orders weren't taken until 1:05. Our food orders weren't taken till 1:20 and we still didn't have our drinks. We didn't order any appetizers and nothing special, mainly fajitas and one hamburger. The order wasn't put into the computer till 1:26 and it was after 2:00 when we had gotten our food.. When initially complaining the food wasn't ready. The food became ready when the manager came out yelling. This restaurant in particular was very disrespectful to women and the guy showed it because he did make a comment about women complaining about the service in his restaurant. It was absolutely the worst experience i have ever had in a restaurant before. Instead, of the manager coming to talk to us he was very belligerent and didn't try to correct the situation. And then to top it off by bringing big men in to handle my son.Ii will never ever step foot into this restaurant and maybe never another El Paso...
Read moreStopped for early dinner. Restaurant was virtually empty. Clean, handy sanitizers available and mask requirement. Server was friendly and the chips and salsa were delicious. There's a bit of a language barrier but I'm bilingual so communicating wasn't a problem.
Now to the reason for the low rating: I ordered chile colorado, which is generally tender beef cuts with arbol, ancho, and guajillo chile red sauce. The description of the dish was vague in the menu so I'd no reason to expect this wasn't the common Mexican dish at a Mexican restaurant. What I got was chili akin to the kind that comes from a can and is put on hot dogs, with a side of rice and beans. Not being a fan of chili, I told my server I was dissatisfied and I didn't like it. She replied with, "so you're ready for the check?" She didn't offer to substitute the dish or even offer me a menu so could pay for another entree. Ultimately, she wasn't wrong. I really was ready to end this dining experience, pay my $25, and find food elsewhere.
I suppose the moral of my encounter is: ask a ton a questions because should something not meet your expectations, they'll be as eager as you are for your departure without worrying about providing a remedy for your...
