I drove out to Gretna just to go to this Joe's location. Their reviews are the best of any location, and I really wanted pancakes and hash browns (hungover). Let me tell you, it was worth the drive, because that breakfast was BOMB. You know how you do a little dance in your seat when food is really good? (I go "mm-mm-mmm" when I do it.) Anyway, it was seat-dance-good. The pancakes literally did not need syrup. They were crispy on the sides, and had just enough sweetness, omg.
Then there's the hash browns. Y'all, they are home. made. Not this whole Waffle House, Sysco thing going on. No, these guys make them in house, and they're crispy and so delicious. I actually ordered another round after the first bite, because I knew the original serving wouldn't be enough (and I was hungover).
After I narfed all of that up, I moved on to the donuts, and took home a half-dozen. All of them were just perfect. Like, diabetes-inducing, hangover heaven perfect.
I really wish I remembered our server's name, because she was fantastic. She was working on a Saturday afternoon, around 2pm, and had recently arrived for her shift. My favorite part was that she helped me through the shame of ordering so much food--I really appreciated that. She was also great at her job, but she really went above and beyond with her patience for my extraness.
The star of the show, though, was Dee (dang I hope I remembered this correctly), "the tall cook." Dee clearly took a lot of pride in his work. I came here looking for an above average diner meal, and instead got a danged feast. All of his seasoning was spot on. He used enough salt, y'all! I can't emphasize enough how tasty and well-cooked everything was. I'm making myself hungry, writing this several days later. I guess I've got a new Gretna Diner Habit. Like said before: totally...
Read moreI placed an order through Uber Eats the other day from the Belle Chasse Hwy location because for some reason the Terry Pkwy location was showing up as closed on Uber Eats. I added a note to my order asking to please make sure the extra egg that I ordered was added to my egg sandwich & to please add ketchup, syrup, & butter for my other items. When my order arrived the receipt was taped to the bag with everything on it correctly, even the note that I added. I ordered an egg sandwich with extra egg & a pancake. What I got was a sandwich with sausage, cheese, & barely any egg & a pancake with no butter or syrup to add to it. This was clearly a case where the employees just didn't care. Everything was correct on the receipt but they just completely ignored it. I hate having to put reviews like this especially for Joe's because the one on Terry Pkwy that I usually order from rarely makes mistakes & the food is always delicious. The Belle Chasse Hwy location needs to take notes from the Terry Pkwy location on how to...
Read moreI love donuts, I love donuts so much I had a dog named donut. Since I was a child going for donuts and coffee has been a favorite family outing. As I've gotten older I've stopped eating them as often because of how decadent donuts can be. Today was my first time eating donuts from Joe's and these were perfect! Although they were decadent they were not over done. The balance of donut to filings was perfect and did not over saturate my palate. Even my husband who can usually only eat one donut had 3. We also got the French fries which were delicious and well seasoned as well as the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were fluffy, flaky and everything you'd want from a biscuit. The sausage gravy was perfectly seasoned and had big chunks of sausage which we LOVED! All the staff we encountered were very friendly and patient especially with my extra wild toddler running amok. Loren at the counter is an absolute delight! Thank you all, we'll be back, especially for the breakfast...
