Review: Overrated and Overpriced
Johnny's Pizza House is a local favorite which has a reputation for having the best pizza in the South. This location is one of many in the local chain of restaurants and happens to be one of the nicer ones in a good part of town.
I'll describe their pizzas below if you've never had one before, but first a few notes on this specific location. The pizza comes out the way it's supposed to about 80% of the time, so I'd check it first if you're taking it to go. The employees can be a little temperamental, for some reason, so try not to let that bother you.
As for the environment, the restaurant is kept pretty clean. They have a few crane/claw prize machines near the door and a couple of other arcade games in a dining area set aside for larger parties. (The games are Ms. Pac-Man and some racing game.)
For those who've never had Johnny's Pizza:
For those who haven't tried Johnny's Pizza before, their pizza is a little different than what you might get from national chains. The crust is on the thin side and there's virtually no edge crust, so there's not a lot of bread. They also slice their pizzas into around 14 rectangular pieces, instead of the standard 8 wedges. Their pizza is also a little on the floppy side. What all this means is that if you get more than 2 toppings, each slice is too long and flimsy to pick up without half the toppings falling off.
The pizza is generally pretty good, but it's nothing special. Aside from that, it costs too much. Just about any other place will give you better value.
Unless you like crawfish on your pizza. They do...
Read moreI ordered takeout, picked it up and went to the place where I was dog sitting. Upon opening the box(that I should have checked before leaving the drive through), I was greeted with a pizza that looked like it had been in one of those Domino's pizza commercials where the driver does everything but run over the pizza! It was originally made very poorly and was so thin there was hardly any crust. When I tried to pick up a piece, it just tore up. So I decided that I would call and ask for a replacement.
Long story short, I was instructed to bring the first pizza back to exchange it for a new one. I asked for the manager (didn't get her name🤦🏼♀️), and I asked if she could compensate me in some way for my inconvenience and she proceeded to blame me for the shape of the pizza saying that since I was late picking up the order, the pizza had deteriorated!?!🤔I sat there at the window and discussed with her my inconvenience and displeasure but as I said, apparently it was all my fault! I was and still am dumbfounded at her demeanor, disrespect, and lack of customer service.
The second pizza 🍕 was made just right. It was hot, fresh, and tasted and...
Read moreI like to put a placeholder on restaurants I visit so I can review them properly when I return home. Johnny's had an excellent pizza. It came out hot and made to order. Crust was fantastic. However, there were a few things that weren't quite up to expectations. First, we felt like nobody apparently dines in at this location. The crew seemed surprised that we didn't order to go. Also, the Google description indicates they sell beer. We discovered this was not the case. I do love me a pizza with beer. Secondly, there was one fork available in the dispenser by the napkins. When I asked for an additional fork, I was given a plastic "spork". Lastly, the salt shaker was empty, and we had to look around for another table that had salt as well Parmesan cheese. All in all, delicious pizza, but I suggest you get it to go,...
