Read moreWe have been going to MT's for 10 years. Maybe once or twice per month. The pizza is quite good. I like the ambience of a quaint neighbourhood joint. I like the open kitchen. The other day we ordered a pizza and asked for a simple veggie substitution. The server was extremely accommodating and stated it was no problem. When we received the bill, the price was about $1.50 higher than the menu reflected. I thought to myself, certainly they did not charge for the substitution?? Yep. Certainly they did. I brought this up to the server and her response was, "Our system is not set up to delete a topping when you add a topping". I advised her that MY "System" is not set up to pay for something that I shouldn't. She said that there was nothing that she could do. I asked her to contact mgt. and articulate my issue. She did and lo and behold, they reversed the charge. So my issue was resolved...cudos to them. Had it not been, I'm the person that would have never returned over a buck fifty. Point is, this should have never been an issue to begin with. A buck fifty from 1/2 of your guests can add up to a lot. With more competition in the Old Metairie corridor (Can you say Fat Boys?), you guys should be killing it in the customer service arena, not trying to nickel and dime those who keep your doors open. Oh. Also, please add a Margerita pizza with fresh mozz to your menu. And whats up with the men's restroom? I can handle small, but this thing is ridiculously...
I am finally writing this review. Mark Twain's Pizza broke my heart. I used to go there weekly with my son, who is on the autism spectrum. I would call ahead (because I drove from New Orleans to Luling and back to New Orleans for therapy for him and we would be in the same area of the pizza place). The only way I could make the therapy appt was to have the pizza ready when we arrived and we had to eat it inside because we did not live nearby. One day the man (the owner, I guess) yelled at me and completely embarrassed me about our calling ahead for the pizza and eating it there and not taking it out. It was particularly embarrassing to be called out with my young son, who was very confused as to why his Mom was admonished. We had been doing this for a few months, so I was very confused and blindsided. Instead of calling me aside and asking why I was doing that - and each week too. Clearly, this man did not care about a regular customer or why we were doing what we were doing. There were plenty of tables and no reason to be this cruel. Needless to say, I never went back and even today I won't ... my message to that man is: you are heartless. You need to pray and be kind to people because you do not know what they are...
Read moreI’ve ordered four maybe five times from Mark Twain‘s pizza because I don’t have a good memory. I like thin crust so I can’t complain about that but I also like cheese and I didn’t ask for thin cheese. Also I ordered the medium pizza which is supposed to be 12 inches When I got it. It was shockingly small so I measured it. I came out to 10 inches. I called the manager told them about the size discrepancy, and he Said, “yeah we had to stretch it out to get it thin, and it shrinks. if I gave you 12 inches I’d have to charge you more.” He said they ration the cheese. What? Are we living during WWII? ration out?
By the time I paid a tip ($4.50), delivery fee and the pizza it came out to $26.
It’s a shame because the sauce is not bad. The cheese is cheap skim milk mozzarella. The crust has a toasted pita bread texture.
Take a look at the photo, you can see the light coming through the pizza.
The manager actually said, “ if we can’t satisfy you, please don’t order from us anymore”.
Does anybody know where to get good thin...
