In the essence of the season of Mardi Gras, I ordered 3 King Cakes to give my work team, in a different state, a taste of the true Mardi Gras season. I ordered in early February using the description online. I ordered 3 shipper king cakes and was highly disappointed with what I received. Once my packages arrived , 2 day air, the box was the only description as written and advertised on the website. The shipper cake that was advertised WAS NOT what I received. I came to terms that Ambrosia false advertised their picture of the cake which I did not believe that was a practice this highly regarded organization would do for paying customers. I called once I received my cake on Friday, February 28 to explain my frustration. No one answered the phone, but I left a voicemail. My voicemail was returned on Saturday, March 1 and I talked with an associate named Amber. She explained that all dough weighs the same before the baking process, but shrinks during the baking and the shipper cake is also wrapped which may give the illusion that it's smaller. However, she did agree that the picture for the shipper illustrated on the website is actually incorrect, and the home kit picture should of been used because that's what the customer will receive. She stated she'd inform her manager and I have yet to hear from them . I informed her that I didn't go searching the website for the home kit as I was only in need of the shipper cake which did not provide details of the size as those that know better know King Cakes come in different sizes. I received a small King Cake. Even the picture wrapped on the website is much bigger than what I received. That cake nearly covers the length of the whiteboard it's shipped in, which as you can see in the picture I didn't not receive either. Pictured: Received small purpleboard wrapped cake. On the website a large traditional King Cake displayed for the shipper. These photos are not identical. Visiting South Louisiana all my life and living there for 5 years (recently moved), if I would of known my King Cake shipper was going to be small in size, I would of ordered from Gambinos, Antoines, or Randazzos. I brought 3 of the cakes to feed 50 people on Fat Tuesday. These small cakes won't even feed 30. I'm highly dissatisfied and disappointed with the representation. What's even more unsettling is I paid $265 and won't be getting my money's worth. The only thing that was represented correctly was the UPS box. DO NOT RECOMMEND! I prefer a refund. Stay with your usuals (Randazzos, Antoines, or Gambinos) if you're thinking of a King Cake.

Best Birthday Cake Ever!!!!! I have ordered from Ambrosia Bakery for over 15 years, and I have never been disappointed!!!! So when I decided to go over the top for my daughter's 7th birthday after not having a birthday party the previous year due to COVID, I immediately reached out to Ambrosia. My daughter had just started horse riding lessons after two years of begging when she was too young to start....So I was determined to make it special. I planned a horse riding party at the Purple Reins Farm located in Stl Gabriel. It was everything you could dream of as a little girl who wants a horse!!! Then we had a hurricane headed straight for us...Ida!!! I was so worried that the party would not happen, but by the grace of God and the hard work of the staff at Purple Rein Farms, the party was still a GO!! So, I reached out to Ambrosia to make sure the cake was still able to be prepared for the party, and I was told that all was well and the cake would be ready due to them not losing power. Well little did they know, Entergy continued to turn the power to Ambrosial on and off during the time my cake was to be prepared. This posed a huge problem for the artist that provide the amazing creations.... I was called the evening prior to my daughters party to be informed they would not have my birthday cake ready due to the power issues with the storm...as anyone can imagine I was devastated and didn't know what to do... Then she let me know they would be able to have something for me just not what I had planned. At that point, I was just excited that there would be anything for the guests, and moreover, a place to put candles for her to blow out.... Because of the great and talented people who work at Ambrosia, they went above and beyond working extra hours without power at many of their own homes to deliver the best cake I could ever have imagined!!!! The baker/artist decided to surprise me and make the actual cake I ordered (sculptured cake taking hours to bake and design)!!!! Please consider using them for all of your baking and catering needs for any event, but especially for the events you want to be special with a little something extra....Lagniappe!!!!

This year has not been a good one in regards to Ambrosia Bakery from my customer experience. I've attached photos to my review. The first three heart cake photos are the inspiration I sent. I sent very detailed instructions including a white border. When I went to pick up my cake, the fourth photo (purple and yellow) was what I received. The fifth photo is how it was corrected in store. Waiting for that cake to be corrected made me late for other appointments that day. Even what I got was not, in my opinion what it should be for a cake that costs over $100 dollars, but I was satisfied and did not leave a review. Fast forward to this week, a cake order was placed for my place of employment for C-suite executives. The experience was shameful to say the least. The last photo is what we received; the cake was around $180 dollars ($60 delivery fee part of the price). Speaking to Lynnette on the phone, she stated that a decorator for over 20 years decorated this cake and that the manager approved. To that I said, "YIKES!". Per the cake order, the placement of the words is correct. Lynnette planted her flag very firmly that she stood by this cake as it was. The two poorly done fonts and the bleeding colors were acceptable to her and the Ambrosia Bakery team. That they truly believe and stand behind the last photo posted is very concerning. Lynnette continued to harp on the fact that there was supposed to be a cake topper and that the decorator was mislead. There was never a cake topper, but regardless they all still agreed that they're lettering was acceptable and since there was no cost for the decoration there was very minimal options to satisfy the customer in this instance. To say you have pride in the products you put out should mean something. If this is what pride means to Ambrosia Bakery, that saddens me as a customer.

I ordered two cakes via their website on 12/2 and listed the pickup date as 12/7 at noon. I paid for both cakes at the time of order. When I arrived at 11:45 am on 12/7 to pick up the cakes only 1 was ready. When they originally brought out the cake to me it had nothing written on it. I told them it needed to say “Happy Birthday” as stated in my order. The clerk brought the cake to the back and about 10 minutes later returned with the corrected cake. The clerk then said “Oh you have another cake – let me go check on it.” She disappeared to the back and never came back. I stood there for a total of about 20 minutes waiting for the second cake. During that time no less than 4 people approached me saying “Have you been helped?” I told each of them that I was waiting on my second cake and each one disappeared into the back room and never came back. At this point, it was pretty obvious that they had not made the second cake. Finally, someone from the back (she appeared to be one of the bakers, as she was wearing an apron) came out and said “We never got your second order. I can either give you a refund or give you another cake.” I chose to go with the Fresh Pineapple cake, which was more expensive than the original cake I ordered (they did not charge me the difference—and rightfully so). I was not 100% satisfied when I left but was none the less ok with the substitute cake. Later that day, I received an email from Ambrosia stating “This is to confirm that your order has been picked up.” Keep in mind, this was not an email asking me to confirm if I had picked up my order, it was an email stating the simple fact that my order had been picked up. The next day I got a phone call from Ambrosia asking if I had picked up my cake order. At this point, I was over it. I told them yes, but technically I only picked up half of the order because they failed to make my second cake. All I got was “ok, thank you.” No apology. Nothing. It appears that Ambrosia might be a little too popular for their own good. Their food is delicious but the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing. They can’t read orders, don’t receive orders and don’t even bother to monitor their own emails when they send notifications to customers. I won’t be ordering from Ambrosia again...
