Spinelli's Highlands — Restaurant in Louisville

I enjoyed their food, it is very tasty. Love the fact they are open until 5am. Yes 5am, not a typo. Did have 2 issues. Was in town for 5 nights. Ordered pizza 3 of those nights. 1st night pepperoni pizza. Not much pepperoni on the pizza. Still pretty good. 2nd night ordered pizza with extra pepperoni. Got maybe 5 more pepperoni than the night before. 3rd night I told the phone guy to put as many peperoni on the pizza as they are legally allowed too without getting in trouble. The guy laughed and said "ok, so extra, extra pepperoni, got it." There was maybe the same number as the 2nd night. :'( 4th night, decided to get the cheese steak. Ordered it with onions and mushrooms, mayo on the side, and an order of peperoni knots The cheese steak was delicious but no mushrooms and no mayo on the side. The peperoni knots, well, they were MIA. Not 1 peperoni knot to be found. I'm not sure what they have against peperoni. Maybe they were waiting for a delivery and trying to make them last? Maybe the kitchen staff doesn't like peperoni so they think noone else should either? Maybe Kentucky is in a peperoni shortage and I just didn't know? Maybe there is a pepperoni vortex that absorbs 90% of the pepperoni used? Maybe another customer got all of my peperoni on their order and we're wondering what this place's obsession is with peperoni? Maybe the kitchen staff got hungry cause they didn't get a lunch break cause this place is always slammed with customers? I guess I'll never know. Great food, great hours, even though they seem to hate pepperoni.

PS the picture is the pie received after asking for the maximum amount of peperoni they are legally allowed to put on a pizza. Somehow I think the law allows the use of way more peperoni than...

I've loved this place for years but tonight may have killed it. The guy who waited on us was super nice and polite, that was until I asked him not to touch my pizza with the same gloves he just took my $ with. His response was "I'll change my gloves. I didn't know your $ was dirty." He changes his gloves, gets my pizza, then goes and stocks waters, goes to the back to do whatever, comes back upfront, answers the phone, all while in the "new gloves". I tried to explain nicely to him that all $ is dirty but he wasn't hearing it. My stomach Is weak. Food poisoning breaks me all the way down. But if he doesn't comprehend the point of gloves, then he may as well just use his bare hands. I always try to use situations as a teaching moment, but if his management isn't training THEM on the importance of food safety, then I'm just "one of those people" to the little guy. Besides that, everyone was nice. But yeah, I won't be back. Not for a while. It's just mind blowing that managers today don't train their employees on food safety and his response let me know he's not being trained correctly. I try not to judge people on their appearance but I do see why uniforms are important and if not uniforms then at least a dress code along with proper hygiene. By the looks of things, I can see why proper hand washing and food safety isn't close to being of any concern. Then after all of that, my pizza is burnt. I guess this was God's way of showing me its not in my best interest to...

2025 update: wish I took a picture the pizza was great, fresh and hot, the fried oreos hot... omg cold milk required, and the driver...my red headed brother you are awesome delivered in a timely fashion. Thank you

The 5th street restaurant, I called to let them know also to stop sellin the Caesar salad. I only ordered caesar salads and I got iceberg lettuces and croutons that was it. That store doesn't have romaine or parmesan, she said that they have grated Parmesan but not shredded parmesan, no parmesan was put on the salad at all. She was very nice and apologized I explained to her that it wasn't her fault she didn't make the salad but the people in the kitchen need to communicate with customers and cook the food better or at least make a decent salad.

UPDATE; this original review was 3 years. It is now 2023 and I said to myself its getting late so see what's open. Fast Forward I decided to give this baxter location a try...the pizza was good I had the chicken and waffles it was surprisingly good but what got me was the delivery person who called me to first come out without finding the right location nor communicating where exactly she was just to keep calling me sir and say just come outside. She was definitely drunk DONT CARE what anyone say yall didnt hear this lady. Never ordering from here again.🤦🏽‍♀️🥴👎👎 And yes before anyone ask I left what I feel is a fair tip...
