I could not get to my mother headstones raise because the gates was lock even on her birthday Mother's day. The reason was close was they was making movie. When they made movie the should donated to the Cementary. I call and send email NO response. My great Aunt grave was dug up. No respect yes it it race matter. You have famous Veterans,people in this Cementary. Use to be beautiful at time. Grave robbers stold grave marker that my dad put so when the grass would get high ,so we can find my mom. I wish the owners U of L and spenallies would do better to communicate with families of loves. I been in cave well kept and Eastern need to be too. One my family was black Veteran. I have volunteered here since 2013. I have my Irish immigrant ancestors buried here. I love all 30 acres of this place. Really sad story of its past. There is a movie documentary of this place on Youtube. It's called "Facing East" . If you want to come help with the maintenance we are usually there every Sunday from 10am till 1pm during the spring and summer. We need all the help we can get. Everyone is welcome. This is an amazing cemetery to visit but is under renovation and is only open between the hours of 8 am-6pm. We had wanted to do a night-time paranormal investigation on site at this cemetery because it is truly a haunting place. On arrival we learned that the Eastern cemetery was purchased by the Cave Hill Cemetery that sits beside it. The Cave Hill Cemetery refuses to grant permission for paranormal groups to be on the property after dark and although the gate is open 24/7, local law enforcement does patrol at night and arrest...
