So, I scout places like this to build a list of establishments that could cater for the company where I work. Unfortunately, I have to give Hillbilly BBQ 2 stars overall for my first visit ever. And I feel I'm being generous! 1 - When I said I'd never been there before and would need some help, a new employee was told to help me. She knew less about the food than me! At least I had some life experience to fall back on. 😭 2 - Nothing about the food was good on Saturday, 3/23/2024! I got beef, pork, and chicken. Seems pretty standard faire. I have NEVER had meat SO dry and borderline flavorless! The flavor was the hint of peppercorn on what I guess is was brisket. Very disappointing. All of the sides had a half-smoked kind of after taste that was not pleasant. It really tasted like it had been dropped into soapy dish water and someone tried to correct it so the food wasn't wasted. The tea was WAY too sweet. Is it supposed to taste this way? Well - I shared with 3 others, who gave me this feedback: "The hushpuppies are shaped like dog poop" (10 year old); "Is this beef or chicken?" (12 year old when eating a 1/4 chicken leg). I should explain...the chicken leg was completely beyond smoked and had croosed over to burnt. "Slaw was ok....I give it a strong 'meh'. Everything else, put it in the trash. Can you get your money back?" (67 y.o. Grandmother). 3- $60+ dollars later (and I tipped generously, despite the situation)... Neither me nor my kids have a desire to return. For their sake, I hope it was just a bad day. I won't risk the disappointment to find out.

Ate dinner there last night and the food was good but the cleanliness needs some attention. Me and my husband was sat at a table that seats 12 people for just 3 of us. I seen the table was dirty right when we got to it but the hostess sat the menus down and walked away. I had to pull out 3 different chairs before I could sit down because the first three were dirty, one had bbq sauce spilled in it, one with food grease, and one with what I would assume was drink. There was a boy cleaning the table beside us so I asked him when he got a chance if he could wipe our table because it was dirty and he did but he missed everything. Spilled drink, crumbs, and a dead fly. At this point I was just like whatever. I know people are short staffed at restaurants so I never complain about wait time or any of that but cleanliness should be most important especially with Covid. I work at a restaurant as a server and have for years so I let a lot of things go because you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes but nasty tables are just unacceptable. Our waitress was good and the food was good but I have been to the new location like 6 times and it just never seems to be together like it was at the old location. Love the food there and the staff is friendly but dirty table thing has happened to us twice.

We have Eaten at hillbillies for Years. But my grandson is only 8 it the hillbillies at Garrison boulevard. To me there's a night and day difference between how they cook it on Garrison and how It is cooked in Lowell. Nothing compares with the pit. Sorta worries me about when they move. They cannot take it with them.or have another pit. Anyway we took him to this one. And everything was great as usual. As the pictures will show. And a great football game was on. Alabama and LSU. We has a vegetables for grandma. And the grandson had a rib. Sirloin. French fries. And pickles. I had a salad. Mashed potatoes and gravy. And a Ribeye. This time was the only time I have ever had a issue. I felt the amount of steak proportion to fat was heavily in the favor of the fat. So after I brought it up. And I will not add the picture because of the way it was handled. It's just one of those things. The fact of the matter was we had a great time. With each other eatting on a Saturday night. a great place to eat with high values and customer service. And I thank Hillbilly's management for their code of ethics . And now it is time for some pictures that will make your mouth water. I will see you there soon. Enjoy the show

🤦‍♀️🥺😕🥴💔 Omg....where do I start?? I haven't done a review in a while, but I am so very disappointed in the poor quality of this food now! If I could give zero stars that's exactly what I would give!

I'm so devastated and heart broken 💔. This food was nothing like I remember it. When they were on Garrison, food was finger licking good! When they were off the Xmas light exit...still finger licking good! 😋

But this Lowell location....ABSOLUTELY NOT!! 😤🫣 WHO IS KEEPING THIS PLACE IN BUSINESS?? After working all day and running errands on Friday June 6th 2025...I didn't want to cook, So I had the bright idea to get me and the hubby some BBQ!

If I wanted to throw my money away, I could have saved the gas because that's exactly what I did! Threw my money away along with the sides! I hate I didn't get a picture, but you all should be ashamed to even send food out like that!! 😒😤

I can usually revamp a side dish, but there was absolutely NO HOPE for that Mac and Cheese! It was dry dry, with cheap burnt stiff pre shredded cheese and zero flavor! My husband agreed and he eats EVERYTHING!! The baked beans were such a small portion I gave him mine to make a full portion!! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

The hushpuppies were decent, but the BBQ sauce was waaaaay off! We used to buy that stuff by the bottle it was so tasty....now it's a loose, tangy, spicy, hot mess! So needless to say I still had to cook! Ended up making green beans and potato salad. I also had to put my own razzle dazzle on that sauce! 🥴

Guess we will stick with RayNathans, Shane's, or better yet just bite the bullet and cook at home! It's much cheaper and will definitely never end up in the 🗑 trash!! That's probably why you tie those bags so tight so one doesn't know what they got until they get home!! That was the 1st red flag 🚩🚩The ribs and chicken was tender. That's all I can say good about this experience! Expensive lesson learned 😪 Absolute Trash!

SAAAAAVE YOUR MONEY FOLKS...CAUSE THIS...

Everything tastes the same. It's like they only have 1 seasoning back there in the kitchen and it literally goes on every item that comes out. I used to come here a VERY long time ago and decided I needed to try it again when I came back to town to visit family. It was the exact same....of course the building has changed. I thought for SURE they had kept the salad bar and that would be a safe choice. Nope. Salad bar is gone and the salad is just as bad as the rest of it now. The menu says crutons come on the salad and when I asked for them, she said they no longer had any. So, I asked for crackers and she brought me soup crackers. I mean, it was better than nothing but geeze. The service was excellent. Our glasses never went empty, and she did an excellent job to ensure we were well taken care of. The new building looks like the interior of an old daycare that's been remodeled to be what it is....It's just weird. So no, I absolutely won't return to give it yet ANOTHER try. Sorry, but things should taste different if they aren't even the same ANIMAL. Change up the dry rub, the BBQ sauce, or something.....I'm not sure what "award" was given to the ribs (perhaps a participation award), but apparently the judges had some jacked up taste buds because those are NOT award winners...Everyone's taste buds are different, but mine is not a fan of...
