North shore donut chain with decent basics. Stopped by this spot a couple of times while passing through the area. With Dunkin’ dominating Massachusetts, it’s rare to find a local donut shop that’s truly bad, so I came in expecting something solid. Compared to more popular North Shore names like Kane’s, this place didn’t offer many standout specialty donuts, and at $4 each, they didn’t feel worth the gamble. I mostly stuck to the basics like apple fritters and chocolate frosted. The apple fritter was great, but the rest tasted fine (and not particularly fresh) On the plus side, this location has a large dining area and a drive-through, so if you’re looking for coffee and donuts with a laid-back, diner-like feel, it’s a convenient stop.

Has been a stellar experience all of the times that I've been here. The glazed donuts are great. I love the new avocado toast that they've added to the menu. One of the few places in Lowell that has maintained the old Lowell in its atmosphere. Overlooking the Outlette Bridget, this establishment is one of our regular weekend stops. Since a lot of senior citizens hang out here, I'm assuming it's a senior friendly / differently abled friendly place.

On the corner of Aiken Street and VFW Highway (Lowell, MA) sits a treasure of a bakery called Top Donut. Purchased 20 years ago from a retiring baker, Top Donut boasts a fusion of American favorites with Asian flavors that tickle the taste buds. Accompanied by one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had in a spell, Top Donut was a heavenly pit stop as we explored the area.

Top donut has fallen from grace. They do have a wide and varied selection of figurines for their coffees, and their donuts are okay, but they discontinued making the only donut that made the visit worth while. They no longer make French crullers. They used to make 4 flavors (original, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) but I went today and was informed they no longer make them. To be perfectly honest the only reason I went was for crullers because the rest are nothing special, just run off the mill big chain donuts. So I'll be sticking with the donut shack from now on. They don't sell crullers and never have, but their donuts are indefinitely superior in quality, and also a little bit less expensive. A message for Top Donut: Give me a call when you bring crullers back, because until then I'll be buying...

I know it sounds like New England blasphemy... but I like them much more than Dunkin! I will go out of my way to go to Top Donut. The coffee is better quality. The cold brew especially is delicious. More coffee flavors than most Dunks, too. Their hot sandwiches are tastier and obviously made with fresher and better quality ingredients. They also always have a very wide donut and pastry selection. Pastries and donuts are light and fresh tasting and not overpoweringly sweet. Also, their cake donuts don't have that odd chemical/ubaking soda-ish aftertaste that many do. Overall, this small chain is just great at what they do: donuts, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and classic...
