What Halal Guys could’ve been if they didn’t go big. Egyptian grill food truck parked in front of what looked like a half-empty apartment complex. Kind of a strange setup, but my friend and I were curious and figured we’d check it out late Sunday afternoon. No wait, food came out in about 10 minutes. Quick and easy. We wanted to try everything, so we grabbed two mixed plates—one with lamb and kofta, the other with chicken and shrimp. Each plate came with rice, a small salad, and a heavy drizzle of white sauce over everything. A bit pricey at just over $20 per plate (especially for a food truck), but the protein portions were no joke. We actually ran out of rice before we ran out of meat. Our favorites were the lamb and shrimp. The lamb was tender and well-seasoned, and the shrimp had a nice char and snap. Kofta was a bit dry, and the chicken felt under-seasoned on its own (definitely needed the sauce). The white sauce was the MVP here: creamy, garlicky, tangy—basically a slightly brighter version of what Halal Guys uses. Red sauce was not playing around. Got it on the side per the guy’s warning, and it was hot as the one at HG’s. Not necessarily a place worth an extra trip, but if you’re craving something hearty, protein-packed, and satisfying, this might be a solid move.

Who exactly is rating 4-5 stars for this food? whoever you are, must be people without any taste buds. I got a chicken and lamb mix plate. It was blander than a cardboard sitting in the sun for 5 weeks. Also they use a lot of salt. Your blood pressure will surely be needed to be monitored after eating here. Also meat tasted old, they served it out of a container. I mean if I go to a food truck / trailer I expect it to be fresh off the grill. Even the rice had 0 flavor. $18 down the drain. Shouldn’t have to pay such exorbitant prices for such a part of the city where one has to dodge bullets. Go elsewhere, it’s most likely safer.

I was out for a bicycle ride and getting hungry so this food trailer is a perfect stop for just what I needed. The young woman at the window was wicked helpful in explaining what they offered. I ordered a lamb gyro with added spiciness for $11. After a short amount of time I was handed a bag with a nice container and utensils/salt/pepper/napkin, I then walked my bike across the street and found a couple chairs in the shade to eat. Delicious and hit the spot. The amount of meat that was stuffed in there was exactly what I needed to fuel me for the rest of the day. I look forward to trying different menu items on my next visit.

Incredibly delicious food, cooked to perfection. Friendly, and handsome men working their asses off in a hot van to make some of the most tender meat thats ever come off a food truck. Rice is cooked perfectly. The magic white sauce is a blanket of heaven over the rice and meat. They accept credit, are open late, until 11. They are closed on sundays ): and should consider changing that, atleast for an hour a day so i can grab some lunch. I would legit make their shrimp and lamb plate my sunday early dinner ritual. They are easy to get to, right on riverside Theres a small lot where the van is parked and there is almost always parking. Which some people would sum to think their food isnt good but thats the farthest from the truth. The parking lot is hardly ever full because it is right near the college so the influx of customers are a lot of walking college kids. Writing this review has made me want their food now. I think I will stop by tonight for dinner. Thanks Egyptian Grill for giving my tastebuds an orgasm more often than my...

FOOD POISONING: I hate to be this guy... I thought I found an awesome lunch option near campus. I was a repeat customer, until today... I got food poisoning from kofta over rice. I've had this in the past and felt fine. I'm not taking another chance. I did notice they over-cooked the kofta today. I'm guessing for my "safety". They should've just said they didn't have any left, instead of running the risk of giving a customer food poisoning. I wouldn't even feed my dog old meat.

I guess I was mistaken by believing the kofta was the "freshest" since they make it to order and it's not sitting there like everything else.

I'm very disappointed. I hope the owners see this and address the issue.

Side note: their hot sauce is delicious. But just keep this review in mind... You'll never see me...
