Summit has quickly become a go to whenever the household is experiencing the "What do you want to eat?" question, only to be faced with the "I don't care", answer to then only be rebutted with, "No I don't want so-and-so type of food."
In short and humor aside, it's one of few go to places when we are all indecisive. And for good reason. Summit despite it not being in a dinner car, and perhaps having an appearance of "big chain" truly does offer that homestyle cooked dinner food. My go to's have been the veal parmigiana and when they have it, chicken pot pie (amish style). They offer a great selection of dishes, but not an overwhelming spread which only exasperates ones already existing indecisiveness.
The staff is friendly and offers that local dinner feel to their service.
I removed one star, as I felt a little let down tonight (after five visits within two months of having lived in PA, again) when I ordered a $2.75 bowl of beef barley soup tonight, only to find that 1/3 of it was barley, onion and carrot bits and one (that's ONE) bit of beef. The other 2/3 was broth. I brought this to our server's attention when he inquired, "Did you not enjoy the soup?", to which my response was, "It lacked any beef and I did eat what soup there was, what you see left is broth." He said he would tell the kitchen, but heard nothing of it after. It's hardly a situation that will keep me from coming back and was the only incident experienced here, if you want to label it an "incident." That said, we will be back, but I'm less likely to order soup again.
Deserts are yum and vary slightly in offering. The apple dumplings, cherry pie, etc. are all delicious, and yes, they...

I went to Summit Restaurant on Gettysburg Rd Camp Hill yesterday to get something to eat & take-out for my husband & disabled brother. Well when they gave me my take out I checked it & saw they gave me approx 3 tablespoons of mashed potatoes. I then asked if they could Please put more in it (I was paying $14 for a Hot Turkey Sandwich with mashed potatoes )They did it with my Meatloaf take out order as well but the waitress did have the cook put more potatoes in that order.. Well the one of owner went off on me when I asked about the Turkey Sandwich one & told me she never had anyone ask for more food. I told her to look at my container & she never did she kept berating me telling " You should go to the grocery store & go home & cook dinner" Never in my life would I expect a owner of a restaurant tell a customer that. I told her I had been a Loyal Customer of them & she said she didn't care. They use to be a very busy restaurant but over last year their prices have gone up which is understandable but now they charge you for go containers with take out orders.....the increased prices for their food should cover this. Well needless to say after being yelled at like she did I will no longer give them my business....In this past year I've been diagnosed with cancer & I do go out to eat because I've lost my appetite & I find I eat...
Read moreI ordered two chili dogs with chili mustard and onions for take out (Covid)....they were $2 each they were supposed to be made with tasty homemade chili... homemade chili...this was not homemade chili, and they were not tasty period. I also ordered a small side salad...it was a tiny salad with just cut up iceberg lettuce, one slice of tomato, some croutons and three red onion slices with a tiny serving if ranch...it was over $5.00...two chili dogs and this tiny side salad cost over $9.00 with tax. While I was there I also asked for a diet coke to go...it was the worst tasting fountain drink ever ... it tasted like straight up chlorine and they charged me $2.00 for that... This was the most disappointing lunch ever...I will never go back there for any reason....there are too many nice places to have lunch... Summit shouldn't be...
