The food here is good and I love falafel, even though Pita Chip wraps it like a burrito. (Not the open-pocket style, but still good.) I did join their "frequent diner" club but after last Friday, I doubt I will ever return.
See, if you go there at a busy time, you need to be TALL and/or LOUD to get what you want. I'm petite and soft-spoken so this place doesn't work for me.
The problem is that Pita Chip has very high glass walls that separate the customers from the workers who are assembling your order. Unless you are very tall and/or very loud, it is extremely difficult for the workers to hear your instructions about what you want -- especially when the place is busy.
I asked for falafel, but they never put in the fried chickpea (garbanzo bean) balls that are the heart and core of every falafel. I asked for a wrapped falafel with roasted veggies, spiced onions, tabbouleh, and tahini sauce. At one point, someone even asked if it was correct that I didn't want any protein in the falafel. I said yes, assuming she meant MEAT when she asked about protein. Then I added "The fried chickpea balls provide enough protein."
I didn't find out there were NO fried chickpeas balls in the falafel at all until after I got home! Even though I asked for falafel, somehow they decided NOT to put in the chickpea balls and did not hear me when I mentioned them.
So, because I'm short and soft-spoken, my requests were overlooked. Until they lower the glass wall, or set up a kiosk whereby a customer can ask for what she wants electronically, I won't be going back.
Interestingly, all the employees admitted the high glass walls were an obstacle to communication with customers.
Too bad the owners aren't listening.
Edit April 2023: Funny, I posted this months ago but it never got noticed or responded to until I changed my rating from 3 stars to 1 star. Funny how no reviews ever get any response unless you give them only 1 star or 5 stars. Everything else gets ignored. Now the the management of Pita Chip has noticed, I will change my review back to 3 stars because their food is good (if you can get them to hear what it is you...
Read moreAbsolutely, hands down one of the best food experiences I have had in the area in a LONG time. Basically (hate to be that guy) but I literally ran across the parking lot to try this new spot I had never been to, and all the chairs were up on the tables. I asked the worker there (a middle aged gentleman) if they were still open. He said something along the lines of “we would love to accommodate for you.” Meaning “we’re closed, but come on in”. So me and my mother walk in and he was so so so super sweet. He gave me huge heaps of every food that I asked for in my bowl. And the whole time he was asking both me and my mother how our day was and he even asked me about my sports Involvment because of my highschool warm up shirt I was wearing. I have not felt that way from a worker in many years (and I’m under 25 years old). My mother and I were treated with the utmost respect, kindness, and overall great service. I never leave reviews, but this man has won two hearts for his (Idk if he’s the owner or not) restaurant, and I will definitely be returning. Thank you sir, and I must say you make some of the best food in the area as well. So freaking good and huge variety of flavors. 11/10 wish I could leave 6...
Read moreEasily the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. We drove from New Jersey, excited to try chicken shawarma based on reviews, but regretted it the moment we walked in. The staff, particularly the blonde girl wearing a football jersey, was uninterested, unhelpful, and had no clue what a chicken shawarma sandwich even was. Ordering was a disaster, and when we went to pay, the cashier made things worse—no smile, no greeting, and mixed up our order entirely. Every staff member on duty seemed indifferent, with zero knowledge of the food they were serving. It felt like they were just there for a paycheck.
As for the food: mediocre at best. The lamb/beef shawarma was dry, and no sauces were offered. The chicken shawarma was barely edible, only because it was drowning in hummus.
Completely overpriced at $14 per dish. We should have stuck to our trusted spots in New Jersey. This place was a total disappointment, and we won’t be returning.
