Smash or Pass with Chris: Provecho Mexican Grill Review 🌮🔥 This week, I dropped by Provecho Mexican Grill on Philmont Ave—a cozy, locally owned spot delivering fresh, authentic Mexican fare (priced under $30) with friendly service and repeat customers . I tried their classic tacos, loaded nachos, and house-made salsas—then made the call: smash or pass? New episodes every Friday—follow for honest, no‑fluff food reviews. ##SmashOrPass##FoodReview##FoodieTok##HuntingdonValleyEats##TikTokEats##RestaurantReview

I love Mexican Food. One of the best Mexican meals I have ever had. Very accommodating, Great Service. Third time this week. I really like the home made variety salsas. Side order of sauteed jalapenos and onions adds a nice kick. The boss (wife) had burrito bowl with carnitas and loved it. I had the quesadilla with carnitas, the best. I am glade they do not provide free chips and salsa. Other wise I would fill up on chips - Which I do not need. Very big portions -No need for chips. I would rather have the bigger portions than free chips. Come with pico de gallo, slice of radish & cucumber, guacamole, bed of lettuce, slices of lime and sour cream. They have a young person's menu. My wife was born in the south and was raised on ice tea. She loves their fresh brewed ice tea. This is a local family working hard to make a living by providing great - real authentic - quality homemade Mexican food at reasonable prices. I always leave a 25% tip - They work hard and deserve a good tip.

I would rather support a local family business than a chain. Local businesses support other local businesses. The money is kept local. Everybody wins.

Simply one of the best.

Update -

I now hooked on the burrito bowl. My partner likes to bring wine, Which we shared with another table. I like the idea of walking up to counter to place order and they will deliver to the table - We get our food faster.

Can you tell - I like this place My only complaint is - I wish it was closer. but it is...

I don't know what all the hype is about... First we were sat at a booth that seated 6, but the table only fit 4. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that charged for chips until now. The salsa was free, but it literally came out in a plastic 2 ounce takeout cup, for all of us to share. The waitress shorted us a plate, said she'd bring one over, but never did. In the middle of taking our order the waitress said she had to walk away because she had something else to do. She was flustered but first blamed it on new help that she was training, and then the new computer system that was screwed up. She then got our order wrong and blamed that on the kitchen. I ordered an iced tea with my meal and asked for a straw. She said she'd bring one right over but ten minutes later I got up and got one myself. Fifteen minutes after that she tried to bring my straw to the table to the left of us, when they said they didn't ask for it she walked right passed us and tried giving it to the table to the right of us. I ordered a burrito, which was greasy, but at least it was big ... but when they brought out my side of salsa to dip my burrito in... again it was another 2 ounce plastic takeout cup. It was like trying to dip a football in a shot glass. There are at least 2 other Mexican restaurants within 10 minutes that are really good, so needless to say I won't go back, but I had...

Leaving my first review up below, but after a second try, this was very disappointing. I was actually stunned it was from the same place. Stale corn chips, bland, flavorless salsa, unseasoned proteins in the tacos, i think the "Mexican rice" (which was nothing of the kind) was probably at least a week old. All restaurants have a bad day, but this was particularly rough. I don't think i will be returning anytime soon. Which stinks because as a Latino transplant from southern California, i was excited to find a good Mexican restaurant.

Excellent food! As an authentic Mexican, i am always trying to find authentic food in a mostly white region. And when you do find it, they have often adapted to appeal to white customers (which i totally understand, but it is frustrating). The shrimp tacos were particularly fantastic! Prices are okay, not a "value" which is crazy because back home in southern California, the house authentic food costs very little. The same order i got a provecho for 45 dollars (lunch for two with drinks and tip) would probably have cost about 15-20 back home. My one big issue was lack of covid-19 procedure. They had no signage that i could see requiring masks, and as a result several customers entered without. The staff were properly masked and gloved, but i hope they will start requiring the...
