I'd give less than one star of possible, but it makes you select one. The atmosphere is clean and nice, but it doesn't matter what a place looks like when service and professionalism is poor. When a client walks in to your business and they ask for something you don't serve after a particular time, especially when they are not aware, and are a first time customer, and less than five minutes past the time as in this case 10am, inform, possibly accommodate, and always be courteous, helpful, and friendly. Sad thing is the young man that assisted me was very kind but the woman that came up after I asked for a bagel was not so courteous and friendly. She said we stop serving breakfast at 10am, but if you want a bagel we can see if we can get it from the freezer and toast it. It was 10:03am when I attempted and started my order. This person attempted to make it as if she was doing me a favor and said we don't ususly do this but just so you know 10am is our cutoff time. Offot enough the bagel wasn't fresh and given it was chewy and burned from being toasted, it was frozen. I'm sure it didn't freeze in 3 minutes, so no the products are not fresh and the bagel was burnt, chewy and the worse bagel I have ever had. Its hard to mess up a bagel. After doing research and I did, I found out the person that assisted me was the owner. I see some items on the menu id like to try as I do live close, but given the comments related to food experience, quality, and my experience, I will continue to help bring that NPS and overall rating down and inform as many as I can about the experience I had. As an owner of a small establishment/business in this environment especially, client experience and the level of service provided is the differentiator along with yes quality of product. I technically can walk past the restaurant everyday and when asked ill simply say their are better options. When your business is not crowded and its obviously a down time, even more of an opportunity to Wow a customer and gain a possible repeat customer. I explained more from an owner of a company. You can learn a lot from the young man that...
Read moreI loved this place! It was a little pricey, but as cafes go, it was reasonable. I had a huge salad and it was delicious! I also had an awesome fresh mango slushy! My friend said I would never be able to finish my salad! It had three nice, thick slices of roast chicken on top. This wasn't your run of the mill lunch meat chicken; but actually slices right off a tender roast chicken. I've never seen that on a salad before. The whole salad was to die for! It started out with Romaine lettuce, nice and fresh and crisp. It was sprinkled throughout with slices of fresh, sweet strawberries. Then for some crunch they added candied pecans and dried cranberries. There was the most delicious Strawberry Balsamic vinaigrette that surrounded every yummy bite, and then there's the tender roast chicken topping the entire salad. Oh yeah, there also was a piece of flatbed that came with the salad. Even that was soft and tasty, especially when I dipped it in a bit of vinaigrette. Then there's the fresh Mango slushy! O-M-G ! Perfect in every way. They even asked me if I wanted whipped cream on top. And of course I couldn't say no to that! My salad cost $8 and change; the slushy was close to $5. Ordinarily I would have never paid that much for either one of those things, but it was a special day out. I will very likely be stopping by the Cafe Fresco again in the future. This is a cozy, quiet place. I wouldn't bring children. And when you get there, expect a wait for your order. Everything is made fresh to order. (Even my slushy was made from scratch.) Your food is brought to your table by one of...
Read moreI used to visit the Paxton Street location pretty frequently when I worked nearby. Didn't get there as much when I changed jobs and was sad to discover they had closed. I didn't realize they would be reopening on Linglestown Rd. When I discovered that last night, I knew exactly where I was having lunch today.
I was very surprised to read negative reviews about the increased prices, decreased portion sizes, and the tipping situation. I didn't experience any of this so I felt compelled to leave my own review.
I paid $20 including the tip and an upgrade from chips to fries for a very full sandwich, large drink and heaping stack of hot, fresh French fries I couldn't finish despite my best efforts. The sandwich was exactly as it was on Paxton St. with regard to quality, flavor, and portion size.
I had an option to choose "other" for the tip amount and was not forced to select 18%, 20%, or none at as some other reviews had indicated. Maybe this was changed since then and, if so, kudos to them for listening to their customers!
The person who took my order was friendly as was the person who brought by food and there were no issues with my modification to my favorite sandwich.
My food arrived hot, fresh, and just as good as I remembered it.
I think some people just like to complain. Their loss. My meal was terrific; the price was fair to me for what I received, and I am thrilled to have them closer to my home so I can visit more often.
Thanks...
