WOOOW!!! Thank you for existing!! I found my go to Thai restaurant. I thought Bangkok was my go to but just wow!! I ordered the pad see ew(#23) spicy with beef and shrimp and it's delicious. Took one bite and definitely had to put my fork down to write a review. I love how they stir fry the chili in with the noodles instead of just sprinkling it on like the other Thai places in Lubbock calling it "spicy". At first I was a little skeptical about this place, thinking it was going to be like the other Thai restaurants but I was wrong. The joint may look a little dirty inside but don't let that stop you from trying their food. You won't be disappointed!! A suggestion though for the cook, you should add more sauce in the noodles because I feel like if I want to eat this later, microwaving it would make it dry. So more sauce next time...

Definitely a hole in the wall. If you're looking for somewhere "fancy" you'll have the wrong impression when you first walk in. But the husband/wife owners will make you overlook all that in a minute! Simply some of the nicest people ever!

The menu has a little something for everyone. Some of the dishes are standard fare for Lubbock recipes, like the Phad, but its all done to order, so expect a slight variation here and there. Overall, its delicious! I'm working my way through the numbered menu and haven't been disappointed yet. This can be a challenge when there are a couple of dishes I think about even when I'm not hungry....I just CRAVE them!

We typically have a long wait when dining-in, so if you're in a hurry for your curry, its best to call ahead. If you have the time, have a seat...the service...

This is the most authentic Thai food you can get in the states. The owners are an adorable couple that feel like family to their regulars. I cannot speak highly enough about the food, the family that owns it, and the experience.

I moved from Lubbock almost 3 years ago. To this day I think about Choochai, the food, and the two wonderful owners and operators. I miss them like an aunt and uncle! Please, go!!

But. I must warn you. It'll ruin every other Thai food restaurant in America for the rest of your life 😂. I can't even eat Thai food in Houston without being disappointed because of the brilliant and impossible standard of Choochai!

I miss and love y'all if you read this!!

PS: You MUST get the Pad Thai! I prefer medium spice. Few can handle the Choochai "hot." But brave it...

It was okay, but definitely wouldn't order again. The pad thai was more spice than anything (ordered medium). They must have used half a chicken nugget, because that's about all the chicken it had in it. There were no crushed peanuts or bean sprouts in mine. My wife's had one small, wilted bean sprout in it. Of course, the trade off with hers was she got a piece of eggshell too. We also ordered steamed wontons, which were pretty good. They weren't over-steamed and had a good flavor. Not enough to save my overall rating, though. Again, I wouldn't order from here in the future. Not sure how this place has so many great reviews.

The way I evaluate if a Thai restaurant is decent is by ordering the most basic Thai dish i.e. pad thai. If you've failed at pad thai, you've failed as a thai restaurant. This place failed on epic proportions at pad thai. The noodles were crunchy to taste : not only undercooked but also deep fried. The cashew nut chicken was way worse. The veggies in this curry were close to being raw. There was so much gravy the it kept splattering. The restaurant was also extremely dirty and dusty. I am shocked that they are still able to operate.

The customer service was great, but this is a hole in the wall place and I would not recommended it if you don’t like being in a dirty ambience. It looks like the restaurant hasn’t been cleaned in years and appears filthy(dust/dirt surfaces), random stuff in shelves at the entrance and restroom, The food tasted okay..tofu in the yellow curry was hard, pad kee mao was too oily. I’m not sure how this place is rated so well.
