I went through the drive thru at about 6:45 pm today. It was definitely disorganized. First off, there was no menu out front for the people in line to view while they wait. A simple solution to this would be someone going outside and handing paper menu's to those in line so they are ready to order when they are up at the window. The way it currently is, you can't view the menu until you are up at the window. Every person ahead of me took a few minutes to view the menu once they were up at the window. Lots of wasted time. Once I ordered, I was told to park on the other side of the building, listen for my name on the loud speaker and then get back in line and wait to pick up my food. Lol what?? So it's cold by the time I get it? A simple solution to that is... Either have an employee taking orders out at your car with a tablet to accept payment or have a couple employees running out your order to your car. With today's technology, the person out taking orders can accept payment and even send orders to the kitchen via tablet once paid in full. If they are busy, this could prevent your food from sitting 5-20 minutes. I wasn't a fan of their system at all so I parked, walked in the restaurant and requested to grab my food when my order was up. They were fine with that so I grabbed my food as soon as it was ready. I was expecting our food to be piping hot. Now the honest food review; keep in mind, I live 4 minutes away from this location. My 4 year old daughter's grilled cheese was saturated in butter, it was soggy instead of toasted like it probably should have be. The amazing thing was, she ate the entire grilled cheese (in reality a "soggy cheese") and absolutely loved it. My 3 year old son's chicken strips were overdone and very hard. He was hungry and bless his heart, he kept trying to eat them even though he was having a hard time with them being so hard and crunchy. He gave up on them so I made him Mac & cheese. Our fries were cold so my guess is that they were fried ahead of time, long before our burgers were done, and they sat out in a bag instead of under or in a heat source. My girlfriend and I had a few fries, looked at each other, we both said, "these are cold" at the same time and we tossed the fries in the trash. Now the double bubba's burgers. They were good tasty burgers! When I first bit in, I got an "In N Out burger" vibe. The crisp, lettuce, tomato, flavor of the condiments, yes! Very good burger! In my opinion, they just have some kinks to work out and this place has the potential to be the place for the best burgers in West Texas. Until In N Out burger arrives here, if that ever happens. Lol Good Burgers guys! You surely have that going for you. We are moving out to Vegas next week but if we end up back in Lubbock in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to your restaurant. I think i'll just eat inside your restaurant if that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI loved this place for a long time. I would visit with the cooks when it was in its old location and found out from them when the new loop was being planned and they had to move. I started visiting the new place once they made the move and it seemed just as good and definitely cleaner. Whenever I'd meet someone in the community who told me they were sad this place closed, I was quick to tell them that they had only moved and where they could find the new place. However, on the evening of March 7, 2022, I pulled up to the restaurant, passed the brightly illuminated "open" sign and into the drive thru to place an order. A young lady inside hesitated to come to the window. She finally did but didn't speak. I said "hi" and started to place my order. She then interrupted me to say "Um... we're closed." I apologized but then looked at the clock in my car and saw it said 8:40. I then said "Oh, what time do you close now?" And she said "9, but my manager just told me to tell you we're closed." I said "Well OK goodnight" and drove around. I stopped at the front door to read the business times and indeed it said the drive thru was open till 9 and the restaurant's open sign was still on. I used to work in food service at a sit- down only restaurant and we absolutely hated when someone would come in even 30 minutes before closing. But that was also inside at a table where they could take a long time to dine, and we still seated people all the way up to closing with smiles on our faces because that's how customer service used to work. But also, this was not for dining in...I would've been in and out of the drive thru before 9 pm ever rolled around. Maybe it's petty, but now I won't be back here. It's pretty disappointing to head out for a meal somewhere then be turned down for service well inside business hours then have little time to make a decision on elsewhere to go. But that's one non- issue in Lubbock. There are plenty of other restaurants to choose from. I just hope this review will maybe encourage Cooper management to change whatever obscure policy is in place that there's no way for customers to know about as they're happily pulling into...
