CHINA GARDEN — Restaurant in Lumberton

I've been seeing the restaurant but never tried it because I didn't ever see a lot of people in there. We decided to give them a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and friendliness. Not a soul was dining in but the take-out orders were unbelievable. No less than 5 customers in line the entire time I was there. With the number of orders being placed, they were able to keep up and get the orders out in reasonable time. I'm a finicky Chinese food guy. I must say the egg drop soup is great, honey chicken was wonderful...not laden in the heavy sauce...but just enough to flavor without making it soggy. Egg rolls on point. The owner even insisted that we take free soft drinks because she thought it took too long with my order. I reassured her that they were very fast considering the number of orders they had. I did get the sodas though. Only bad thing is that when I opened my fortune cookie, it didn't have a fortune inside. I felt like Buddha was playing a joke on me. Don't take my word on it. Try them for yourself. I really don't think you will be...

I was greatly disappointed with them because for one; the reviews were good and a high scale friend on the councilman board had recommended them. But my food was trash! And I know even the best of them have bad days sometimes and I understand that but not owning up and just apologizing and trying fix the issue(is when the problem starts) you get smart and try to deny what I am seeing and tasting. My food was half cooked and tasted horrible and when I go in to tell the young lady she gets smart ! My egg roll was so soft and cold i couldn’t even believe they gave that to me. Not only the food but I was the only customer I go sit in my car for about -15mins and go back in they only had cooked a portion of my food and the guy(the cook) was sitting down and she said something to him and jumps up to start cooking and now I had to wait an additional 10-15mins. I most definitely will not go back! Not because of the mistake but the attitude that was given while I’m sitting there with proof and I came respectfully telling her what was going on…. Bad...

The food is good, however I have been in a few times recently and the lady that takes the order behind the window is extremely rude. Twice I have witnessed her screaming at customers for mistakes she made with their order. The last time I went 4/16/23 she came from behind the window into the dining area to yell at a customer. Everyone in the restaurant was very shocked! I told her last time I was there and the other time she did it to stop talking to the customer like that because it was very rude. I could not believe she did it again when I was in there on Sunday. I am not sure if she is overworked or what the issue could be but she is not good at customer service and treating people...
