I always wonder about credibility when people review restaurants and give very poor marks that others leave high marks for. I think they're the sort that can't ever be pleased but I have never had such a bad experience as I've had here. My daughter and I went to Brick Oven, Lumberton, TX, with my 6 y/o granddaughter for pizza after a school event 9/12/2016. The sign at the front said seat yourself so we did towards the back where the open kitchen is. We waited about 20 minutes and then caught a waiter going past us and asked for menus. 20 minutes after that we hailed a waiter and asked to place an order only to be told it wasn't their table. He grabbed another waiter and in our view had a lengthy back and forth discussion about whose table it was. Eventually one of them came to take our order. He apologized for the wait and said the Manager said to give us a discount. We ordered and drinks came right away. More than an hour after we sat at the table we asked the waiter how long it would take to get our pizza and he briefly spoke to someone in the back and came back with a handful of excuses that they were busy and they could not give us any estimated time our pizza would be out. By now, the 6 year old was feeling sick because she was so hungry. We paid for the drinks and left. No discount was offered. Poor staffing, terrible service, horrendous organization. This place had The Worst service and kitchen I have ever been to. They should be ashamed of the service...
Read moreNormally this is one of my favorite places to go for date night with my husband. Last Wednesday we went and they were busier than usual so we sat at the bar. The young lady that helped us was wonderful and greeted us fast and friendly. What ruined our experience and ultimately lead to us deciding to leave was what appeared to be an interim manager walking from the back speaking very loud saying things like “well it’s not my store so I don’t care” then loudly exclaimed to the entire kitchen “attention back kitchen does anyone here know how to run the brick oven?” And when they said they couldn’t because they weren’t 18 yet she had an attitude and told them all that they needed to start telling all of their tables it’s going to be at least 45 minutes wait from there on out. We just decided to leave at that point. The staff energy changed when she came in with the attitude and talking to them like that and being there were customers right in front of her and she didn’t care that we heard her talking to the staff that way didn’t sit well with us. We tipped our waitress and left. We understand it was probably a shorthanded night but the leadership in those situations is what makes or breaks you during...
Read moreThis visit was a disappointment. Upon entering and waiting to be seated, as sign requested, we watched 5 employees make no effort to seat us. There was only one other patron seated. One employee was on phone, two seemed to be cooking, and other two seemed idle. After being seated and making order, enjoyed beer, wife got salad, and I began the wait for my sandwich, then waited and waited. Meanwhile, several more patrons came in and when their food began to be served I asked where my sandwich was. The server, Thomas, said he'd check then returned and said it was just going into oven. This was 35 minutes since entering. My beer was gone, my wife had finished salad, and when asked what I wanted to do by Thomas, I asked to pay for what I'd received. I did and we left, not to be back for a while and going to places that manage food preparation and in-restaurant...
