I’ve always held Hard Bean to a higher standard than other coffee shops but today was a shock. I only had a short amount of time to grab some food and a coffee before heading back to work. I was standing in line waiting to for the girl with the piercing through her nose to finish showing off how many tattoos she had to other customers before even acknowledging that I was standing there. Meanwhile two teachers had entered the building. They never asked if I was in line or if I had even ordered yet. Another Hard Bean employee came up to the counter and proceeded to ask the teachers that were behind me if she could take their order, I was just amazed at the lack of concern or even the fact that the two that came in AFTER ME didn’t even have the consideration to ask if I’ve been helped. Finally the girl with the tattoos came up and asked me if she could take my order, I politely told her I was next and that I didn’t have enough time to order anything but thanks anyways. They made me feel less important than the 2 teachers that had cut in front of me, my job is just as important as the next persons. Not okay Hard Bean...
Read moreI do appreciate the Christian elements but the quality is just not there. I asked for a mocha frap and it did not taste like coffee at all even after I asked for an extra "shot" it still reminded me of an ice cream or milkshake. Most of their cold drinks taste like dessert and I could barely taste the coffee. The upside is their hot drinks, while still being on the sugary side their hot drinks are nice and at least you'll remember youre drinking coffee. The baked goods are mediocre the strawberry cheese danish is really strange the strawberryin it was a weird jello brand pudding texture. Overall the atmosphere is quite dead the customer service is dead the young lady behind the counter is incredibly aloof to the customers and was very aloof to myself. I don't think she intended to be but that is the attitude she gave off. Place could be better but I personally feel like they really don't care and I guess that is fine their business seem to be well off, people seem to be okay with mediocrity here in Lumberton. To each it's own, I would rather pay high price for my frap at Starbucks...
Read moreMy family and I just tried this place for the first time and unfortunately it was the worst experience we have ever had. The person making our coffee did not have any knowledge of the drinks and how they were made. When she told me they were out of Gingerbread for the Mrs. Claus coffee, I chose another one which was Almond and Amaretto but then she said they were out of Amaretto for that drink as well. I then decide to choose the Madonna and it was made very poorly. My husband ordered the Elf on the Shelf and it had no peppermint or red velvet flavor and my son ordered a campfire mocha and it has no flavor. The espresso was over extracted to the point where it tasted like drip coffee. Each of us ordered a macaroon, fruity pebble, blueberry and birthday cake. The outside was decent and the inside was a whip cream which is not how the dessert is typically made. We were unable to even finish our coffee, which is unfortunate we will not be recommending nor...
