I’ve been looking for a good Thai restaurant and I tried White Thai today. Very charming from the outside with a front porch you can eat your meal. Inside is small but very clean and comfortable. Nice music playing adding to a relaxing atmosphere. Server who owns White Thai came right over to my table and seemed very welcoming. Told him it was my first time there. I ordered a Thai iced tea and it was very good. Not too sweet but just enough. I then ordered under the Chefs special Thai orange chicken with jasmine rice. The meal came out hot and very eye appealing. The pieces of battered crispy chicken were cooked perfect! The chicken was soft not chewy and the batter crispy. The dish had pieces of broccoli and carrots as well. The jasmine rice came out in a dish in a heart shape. It was good with flavor and sticky just the way I like it. Both the owner and his sister who was a server asked how it was. I told them it was the best I’ve had and how delicious it was. I asked who was the cook and a bit later he came out and introduced himself. It’s always nice when people take pride in their cooking skills. I ordered for desert to take home Kanom Tuay (Thai rice pudding) on the suggestion of the server. This rice pudding was something I’ve never yet had. Not our traditional rice pudding. It comes in 3 small ceramic dishes and comes out warm. The consistency was like a egg but the flavor was rice pudding. It was delicious as was everything I had. I must say this place is a little gem and the food is authentic. Don’t even second guess going there. I will definitely be back to try more of their wonderful heart...
Read moreSo we went to Bangkok Hill when we first moved to Leominster. Loved it. Atmosphere was great, food was good.
We decided to try out White Thai instead of Asian Imperial….. wow what a bad decision, especially with having family over. Let’s start with the price tag…. We couldn’t believe how much we spent for 5 entrees….. I remember living in Boston I could get the same meal for half the price we paid. Now I’m getting takeout food from central MA and am shocked by the price tag….. i think they are trying a little too hard to look like an upscale establishment.
Now for the food. The fresh spring rolls were a glorified salad…. 2 for 9 bucks?!?!? I remember I made these last summer for a family get together and i at least closed them fully. It was super messy. No pork or shrimp either! Wow.. now for the orange chicken. It was supposed to be breaded and in sauce. Had NO sauce and very little breading. Just a bunch of overcooked chicken. I wish i took pictures. Pad Thai wasn’t bad. Drunken noodle wasn’t bad. Dumplings were terrible, like they were frozen. The food honestly felt like it’s been sitting from last night. Not fresh. Will not be going back and advocate that no one else goes either. Save your money and get something wayyyyy better at...
Read moreI think this location may have changed hands a couple of times since "Mike" ran it. Now as "White Thai," it's back to its former excellence and may be even better. Last week, they didn't have the Crab Rangoon, but on a previous visit, it was the best I've ever had. My son and I shared Crispy Rolls and steamed Pork Dumplings, both cooked perfectly. The rolls were light, crisp, and delicious, while the steamed dumplings were tender and flavorful. For entrees, my Drunken Noodles with tofu were fantastic and a perfect portion for me. Best of all was the Crab Fried Rice that my son ordered. It was scrumptious! White Thai does not serve alcohol, but my son loved the Thai Iced Tea.
Oh, and the service! I believe our server may be the owner, and as Alexis Rose might describe him, "he's the sweetest little guy." He brings "humble service" to another level. If you love Thai food or Asian food in general, you should...
