I'm so disappointed that I didn't share the same experience as everyone else who has left reviews for the Hair Loft.
After a ton of deliberation on where to go for a drastic hair change, I decided to visit the Hair Loft. Locals were speaking highly of them, and I reviewed the portfolios on their Facebook page which displays beautiful work from all the stylists. When I made my appointment, I didnt have a stylist preference and they gave me a stylist that I didnt recognize from the shared portfolios, Suheily.
I spent many hours in the salon, which is beautifully decorated, bright, and clean. In that time, my stylist barely spoke to me - I was spoken to more by the other stylists in the salon, and spent some time chatting with them. I was offered water or coffee... by a stylist that wasn't mine. Mine disappeared quite a few times, had personal visitors while doing my hair and left to go speak with them, and spent a lot of time on her phone and chatting with the other stylists.
Onto the hair itself - I came in with something very specific in mind. She explained that it may take 2 or 3 visits to get the desired look, which was fine by me. However, she did things to my hair without explaining (like darkening my roots, and then explaining afterward why she did that - which is fine, but a discussion would've been nice.) After lightening my hair into a bayalage, she consulted another stylist (Alyssa, I believe) on if she should try to add the rose gold/pink that I wanted. She said we should try it, and explained that it may just be a pink undertone. I was okay with that, but Suheily decided we should wait until next time.
I must also mention that I have very thick, wavy hair that is pretty hard to manage. A bayalage treatment requires a bit of teasing at the root. Brushing this out was absolutely miserable - it was painful and took about an hour. I had a headache and scalp pain for a day or two afterward. (I know this was not unavoidable, as I've since had the same treatment done at another salon with no stress or pain.)
For such an expensive visit, I felt like the service I received was subpar. I kept my review at 3 stars ONLY because I believe my bad experience was not a result of the salon itself, but of the stylist I worked with. I have complete faith that some of the other stylists are amazing and pleasant to work with. It's really unfortunate, as I feel like my money was not well spent and a rare treat to...
Read moreI'm giving it 3 stars only because I think my experience was a result of the stylist, not the salon. The salon seems very nice, the other stylists seemed extremely personable and helpful, it was clean and welcoming. Suheily was my stylist. She didn't talk to me hardly at all, and didn't seem to care much about what I thought or wanted. She talked about what a fun project it was for her. I showed her a picture (from their Facebook page). The woman had hair very much like mine in both color and apparent texture/thickness. My hair came out NOTHING like that. It was much much much too dark. The picture I showed her had color mostly at the ends, definitely the bottom half of the hair, while mine is almost all the way up to my roots. I have extremely bad vision, and of course had to take my glasses off during the coloring, so it's not like I could've stepped in to stop her. I told her it was my first time coloring my hair, and she gave me no information. She didn't tell me the dye she was using wasn't permanent (although that turned out to be a good thing because it looks awful). She didn't warn me not to shower for a couple of days (I wanted to wash out all the product she used so she could take a picture). Honestly I'm just so unhappy with how it turned out. It seems like lots of other people have good experiences with other stylists, but I would never go...
Read moreOkay! First of all this place is absolutely adorable and I'm so glad that I found this hidden gem. Being a cosmetologist is really hard to find someone else who understand you and your needs. I wanted to treat myself and be the client for once and I wasn't familiar with anywhere in the area. Getting a full foil, and a good tone job... Its hard to find a stylist Who has the patience for what you want as well as listens to you not only was I taken last minute on a Saturday before Valentine's day, I met jamie who is absolutely unreal. She listened to my needs and fit me into her busy schedule on top of the fact that I can't wait to go back because she absolutely did a fantastic job on my hair and I will now be a regular client this was my first time at this salon and I am so grateful. the setting was completely humble and it felt like a family gathering and it was a beautiful salon.
