If you have not tried their version of almond croissant. I implore you to try it when youāre in RPK.
I say this because when I was in DC Last week, I passed by Tatteās Bakery and tried their almond croissant, thinking this may be better. I was wrong. Tatteās version was dry, I had a difficult time tasting the almond filling on the first bite (if there was any). It was a hybrid between flaky and doughy. Not tasty at all. šš¼
There was no rationale for comparison. Walkerās almond croissant is served warm, with slivers of almonds and confectionerās sugar on top. You can see the almond paste between because it was slathered generously across. The thick filling comes out after your first bite, which brought a smile to my face. Iām sure you will too.
My problem now is how to restrain myself from stopping at 1 piece. Oy vey.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited Walker Bakeshop for their preview opening. The quality of the baked goods is better than any I can remember. I had a piece or melt in your mouth rugelach to start. The pastry is delicate and held together by the lightest bit of meringue. My husband got the lemon blueberry scone and I couldnāt help stealing several bites because of the yummy fresh lemon zest zing in the icing. We brought home chocolate babka that I am having a hard time making last. Oy may be my new favorite food. The marble wheat and challah were perfect for sandwiches. And the rye and whiskey chocolate chip cookies were delicious. The shop is cute and just next door to a coffee shop that allows for a lovely combination. Dori and Doug are delightful and talented! Get in line for their grand...

Imagine being that entitled, and privileged to have parents that own a bakery, and when asked a simple question about "Is everything made here?!" met with, "We don't make everything in the world"- interesting take. From what I later learned from other folks is the owner's daughter, heavy set with the pink hat, doesn't have the greatest customer service, that was apparent. Based on some other reviews I wasn't alone, in feeling like we were a burden walking in there. I politely left the bakery. A message to pass along, " there is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers" I've never used that but I feel as though that applies to...
