TL/DR: This is MUST stop to have something good and uniquely Lynchburg. To say ordering the fries is an amazing thing might be funny other places but... it's all that. Why My Rating? Group Size: We typically come in with 4-8 people with us. Sometimes we have to wait. Seating is limited but it is the place. There are two counters you can sit at and be served as well. It is worth it. Food: Fries. No... literally, a large basket of fries is worth the drive across town. The seasoning, the ranch, it all plays a part. On top of that, all of the food is simple and excellent. It isn't fancy but it is great. Location: On Rivermont Ave. It is an unassuming building that you might pass if you aren't looking. You'll have to park on the side of the street prior to or just after the restaurant. Be careful of the bicycle lane. Staff: Wells Duffy, the owner has owned this for a long time and still is part of the team serving. He was doing that when I was 16 and... well my middle child is 16 now. So... We have ALWAYS had great service here. We love the Cavalier team. Atmosphere: From the license plates on the ceiling to the random pictures to the team pennants, there is a lot to see. The tables have been carved for decades. A restaurant by day and a local bar at night, the Cavalier is truly an unique Lynchburg gem Cleanliness: The restaurant is always clean enough. Each table has carvings in it, it is a 100+ year old building. The restrooms are really tiny (like "Hey, you have to see this!" tiny). It's always been clean enough. Prices: Very reasonable. Will We Come Back: Yes, 100% (and I have been for more than 30 years.)

Great dive bar style restaurant in the Lynchburg area. Lots of history and has a wide range of food and beverages.

If you’re hungry and don’t mind a loud, messy and unwelcoming atmosphere, it’s worth a visit. Pros: - The food was good. Our burgers were well-cooked and large, with quality ingredients, and sides were all solid. - A decent selection of craft beers as well as the standard “dive bar” staples. Cons: - Service was terrible. We were not greeted when we walked in, had to figure out seating ourselves, and our waiter was rude and gruff. He genuinely seemed unhappy that we were there, answered questions with one or two words, and never came back to check in us after he brought our food. - Atmosphere was not welcoming and claustrophobic. The license plates on the ceiling and framed picture on the walls could have been nostalgic and fun, but everything seemed like it had been piling up for years with no curation, like an elderly hoarder’s house.

My friends and I have always had a good time on Saturday nights here. But this past Saturday my friends and I came, they got there early and decided to play a few rounds off pool before everyone else got there so we could order our food together. By the time everybody else got there (around 10 pm) we were ready to order food. But the lady working rudely told us the kitchen was closed. We decided to play another round of pool and in the middle of our match she came over and kicked us all out because we didn’t order anything. My friends and I go every Saturday around the same time and order food around the same time and have never had a problem, but this was the first time we’ve seen the lady working there. We were just confused because the place closes at 12, and she told us to get out because they were “closing” (there were people still at the bar being served). Service was...

I really liked the Cavalier store on 2920 Rivermont Avenue in Lynchburg! Tried the Cavalier cheeseburger for my first try, it was great. Wasn’t cooked how I requested medium well but still great. I loved the brand of pickles they’re using, their brand has got the perfect crunch. I tried a hot dog too, it was good. Loved the sauerkraut. Service was great, my waiter earned a decent tip. He was very smiley and seemed happy to serve us. He also carried on a bit of a conversation even being as busy as he was. There was another guy with a beard, he said he was a bartender. He was friendly too and chatted. I told the bartender I know I probably talk to much, he said “it’s fine, you seem like a really cool person”. That was a very nice thing to say! I’ll come again, I’ll probably bring family and the kiddos. Parking isn’t the greatest but you can park up the street...
