The first time I heard about rivermont pizza was from a lynchburg local who insisted it was the best pizza ever. A few of my friends and I went with our friend, the lynchburg local, and the moment I walked in I was like "really? okay..." The place gives off underground, speakeasy vibes, and is the perfect example of a hole-in-the-wall. So we sat down at a booth and as an appetizer ordered the spinach dip, and this was without a doubt the best spinach dip I have ever eaten bar none. We also ordered the Paris Lenon Pizza, I don't know why it is called that and frankly do not care. Before I get more into a review of this pizza, first let me say this: I am not a pizza person, I hardly ever crave it and hate the fact that this is one of the defining foods of American Cuisine, but I will still eat it occasionally, ergo me ending up at a pizza joint with friends. Now the Paris Lenon pizza is not something I would have ordered, it has pulled pork (which I do like), jalapenos (not a fan), peppers (it depends) and onions (yes). So this strange combination pizza arrived on our table and I placed a very hot slice on my plate and waited a while until it cooled, then I took a bite. I am not a pizza person, but I am without a doubt a Rivermont Pizza person. The Paris Lenon pizza has turned me into a new person. If I could only eat one pizza for the rest of my life it would be this pizza, I don't even have to think twice about it. Go to Rivermont, order the Paris Lenon, become a changed person. Sometimes it takes them a while to get your food to you, it's worth it, I've never had a bad...
Read moreRivermont Pizza is genuinely the best pizza in Lynchburg. It is the only place where you can get a unique pizza that is always delicious. When I first moved into my new apartment, my mom wanted to order some pizza. I had never tried RP before so I suggested that. We were tired and didn't want to leave the apartment so we got RP through Door Dash (actually not lying) and we were very impressed. We got two pizzas and a spinach dip. It was not only the best pizza I have had in Lynchburg but also some of the best pizza I have had in a very very very long time. My husband and I return frequently. It is a great place to take friends and hang out. I always recommend it when people are visiting from out of town! The ingredients are always fresh, the staff is hip and friendly, its everything you could want in a small, local pizza joint in a college town! They even have a large room in the back for parties! We had my husband's birthday there with friends! The staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful. The restaurant is in the basement so that can feel a little weird but it goes with the overall vibe. The basement is old and you can tell the place has been loved. What is amazing though is the food. If you served the food at a 5 star artisan pizza place, it would fit right in. You go for the food and the good times...also the beer, the beer is just so so good and you can't beat the price. Bottom...
Read moreSolid environment, definitely a good place to have a slice and a brew, but overall the quality of the pizza was okay. The margarita pizza, a staple in any solid pizza joint, was poorly constructed with bland basil, and sub-par tomatoes. The cheese pizza wasn't any better.
That said, if you're looking for traditional, it isn't here. What is here is an outstanding beer menu, paired with an in house cellar if you're looking to take home some of their more rare selections from the taps. And like their less than domestic beer sampling, the pizza takes a turn for the more exotic.
From the Drew Brees to the Connie Hall and everything between, these pizzas are unique and there is sure to be something to satisfy. Be warned though, this is not your hometown pizza place. Each pizza is a masterpiece of flavor pairings that might surprise you.
Poor cheese pizza, but great artisan creations. Truly a...
