JD's Cafe — Restaurant in Lynchburg

Wonderful! Extremely clean and inviting. I ordered the CATFISH POBOY and a reasonable $3 order of onion rings. I was served a DOUBLE thick layer of piping hot, crispy fried fish, properly arranged, and topped with L/T and just the right amount of mild dressing. The o-rings were equally delish and served hot too! My friend had the BBQ Sammy and a side of fries. The BBQ was huge! Great sweet flavored sauce. Could have used a hint more slaw, but, even the bun wasn't overlooked as it was buttery hot. Although too full to eat all the fries, they were, as well, in a league all there own !! Staff was friendly, and the cooks asked, and seem to gunuinely care, how we liked the food. Even my sweet tea is a home run! Lastly, prices were reasonable, the staff was appropriately attired and all food handlers were in gloves, further lending to the clean environment vibe. I think we have a winner here! i was sad and disappointed , as we left JDs yesterday. we sat at the bar stools and were totally ignored-by the waitress. and though we sat right in front of the cook he (and the waitress) made zero eye contact, no acknowledgement like "hey we're busy we'll be right with you...," NOTHING! we were completelty ghosted by the staff. we waited patiently and tried to make eye contact. we sat and watched, as they took other peoples' orders, and served food to people that arrived after us. we were not obnoxious or overbearing but we got the feeling we were not welcome and walked out. they didnt even seem to care. we were not the only ones. it became clear they didnt want or need our business. we had been there several times before and the food and service were ok. having been in the food service biz i can deal with wrong orders and other human mistakes. i can handle delays, but what i will not tolerate is being completely ignored and not feeling welcome. my friends and i will not...

We stopped by the Backyard today for lunch around 2 pm and the smell coming from JD’s Mobile Cafe truck had me interested before even reading the menu! I had to go with the Catfish Po boy, and I’m VERY glad I did!! There were so many options it wasn’t easy deciding! The first bite I knew I made the right choice. It was fantastic!!!! The grilled bun was perfection, the crispy catfish, fresh tomato and lettuce and sauce were delicious!! The fries were seasoned and soooooo good!

This will be my “go to” truck when at the Backyard….. the couple running the truck were very accommodating and appreciative for the business. Next time I’m going for the Impossible Burger (plant based burger!!) loaded! I LOVE the non-meat options for me!! Apparently they’re famous for their Philly CheeseSteak asks burgers, but I gotta say, that catfish was 👌🏼🎉!!’

Oh, they also serve breakfast as well as lunch and dinner!...
