My family’s experience with Mellow Mushroom was not great tonight. We ordered takeout for pick-up at 5:30. We arrived at the takeout spot about 13 minutes early, and decided to go ahead and call so whenever our food was ready we were here for them to run it out. As we called the man that answered the phone told us that we would be waiting until our set pick-up time, and that they would bring it out to us at 5:30. So we waited, and 5:30 came then passed, so at 5:45 my sister called back and our food had been ready for a while. We got our food and headed home only to realize all three of the pizzas we ordered were cold, and my dad did not get what he ordered what so ever. I attached pictures, the first picture is what was ordered and the second picture is what we received. The pizzas being cold was annoying, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed by a few seconds in a microwave. The plain burger on the other hand, was very frustrating.

My little brother is in town and we decided to check out this place. I've had a couple people recommend the food here. We arrived on a Monday night and it was busy. The service was prompt and we were seated. The waitress was nice and to the point. We ordered two pizzas - a mellow mushroom and a pepperoni. The mellow mushroom is one of the house specials 🍄 It was fantastic. A few different types of mushrooms, carmalized onions and a few different types of cheese, topped with a strong garlic sauce that was AMAZING 😍 The crust was delicious. Just the right amount of crispy and chewy. My brother commented several times on how delicious the crust was on both pizzas. The pepperoni pizza was tasty but after trying the mellow mushroom, I had already decided which was my favorite flavor. The waitress said it is a favorite and a lot of people order this one. The vibe was great. And the service was good, too. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Mighty Meaty at Lynchburg’s Mellow Mushroom was just that. Nicely cooked chewy crust and loaded with toppings. Our side salads combined several flavors and textures was topped with shaved parm. Very much up to the standards I’ve experienced at MM in other cities and states. The lively psychedelic-ish decor for which Mellow Mushroom restaurants are known is colorful and fun and a bit of a departure for Lburg where the vibe tends to be more on the practical side. Not sure why the hostess denied us a booth when all but one were unoccupied. Disappointing was the lack of local or regional breweries on the menu, which needs to be reviewed. Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat was listed under the Sours section, as was a cider. Neither of the beers that we ordered Thursday afternoon were available, but we made other choices. Where is Starr Hill, Blue Mountain, and especially that rising star, Beale’s??

This "meh" experience began when I walked in the door, yesterday. The host was seating another party, and while I was waiting for him to return to the host station, I watched a group of 4 men enter in the side door and go sit in the main dining room at the only table for 7 that was open. I was hyper aware because I was part of a party of seven. When the host returned, he looked out at the dining room and said he could offer me a high top table at the back by the bar, or else it would be an hour wait. I pointed out that the party of four had just gone and sat down, and that I was here first. He looked at me blankly and repeated that he had a high top available. We took the high top, which we all came to regret. The high top table was by a huge window with glaring diffused sunlight streaming in. Those of us facing the window tried to use our menus to shade us so we could see the rest of our group. It didnt work, was painful, and we all ended up with headaches. But wait, there's more! The server took our order, which we placed as soon as we got our drinks because we know how slow the kitchen is at apparently all Mellow Mushroom locations. I ordered a side salad that arrived first, and we were given some plates and 5 napkins for a table of 7 people, but no silverware. 15 minutes later, I still had no silverware. I could see silverware rolled up behind the bar, and there was a dishwasher rack of silverware on the table behind us, that, in addition to adding to the classy ambience, was a constant reminder of what we didn't have. When the entrees began arriving, a food runner brought a Cobb salad for another of our party. I looked her right in the eyes and said, "We need silverware." She looked at me blankly, because apparently she got the same training as the host, and then walked away without saying a word! After another 10 minutes of not being able to flag anyone down, our server returned and, to her credit, brought silverware very quickly at that point. But wait, there's more! The pizzas arrived, but no one had ordered the Merry Prankster that a different food runner was holding along with a Karma. It should have been 2 Kosmic Karmas, instead. Before I could say I'd just eat that instead (because, you'll recall they're slow in the kitchen at MMs), she spirited it away. Things that could have happened at that point, but didn't include: the runner could have informed the kitchen of the error, or informed our server, but she did not. Perhaps they were all distracteded and eating a Merry Prankster pizza in the back. I wouldn't know, I never saw them again. I guess the prank was on me. Note to staff, if you bring the food, you aren't done until you've brought silverware and you've let someone now when the order wasn't right! Also, our server could have stopped by to see if our order was complete, or how our food was. She did not. Finally, after more than 10 minutes, I got up and found her. She didn't know about the lack of a Kosmic Karma. She did apologize and she came back 5 minutes later to let me know it was being made. It did finally come, long after we were boxing our leftovers and asking for the check, and still squinting into the core of the sun. To her credit, she brought a box along with it, and she easily split our check 6 ways without batting an eye. She was very nice, but I still probably over-tipped at 22 percent given all the other issues. Now, you might wonder if a manager would come apologize, or if one Kosmic Karma would be comped off the bill. The answer is no. And, we were on the way home from a weekend youth event, with hours left to drive, so I just didn't have the wherewithal to ask for the manager myself, or wait any longer. As we left, we saw the party of 4 who had taken the table for 7, also getting up to leave. I hope they had a better experience. Even after a bad experience last year, we stopped here because they can make a good gluten-free pizza without cross-contamination of wheat. And, because Chik-fil-A is closed on Sundays. I guess the only Karma we had...

Don't go to this restaurant.

Overpriced food and drinks, the worst service I've seen in a while, alright food at best, and a birthday lunch ruined. We went a few days ago and it was a waste of $80, and that's only for 3 adults ordering one drink and entree each. I could write an essay on everything that went wrong, but this meal wasn't worth the effort to write up every discrepancy because I know nothing would change. I'll be brief, the waiter was awful Gerald decided the lunch shift on a Monday wasn't worth his time and chatted with his coworkers the entire time, took 15minutes to bring my cocktail, brought our appetizer after our meals, didn't both refilling our water but once, was rude to my wife and mother, and made no effort to tend to us after our plates were brought to us. They also don't have booster seats here only high chairs and these booths are not appropriate for toddlers and smaller children. The food was alright mostly, certainly not worth the price to get a sandwich on rock hard bread, but of course it wasn't just the bread. We received things like a chewy poorly cooked slice of pizza, a cold kids meal, an appetizer that was too late and obviously not fresh out of the oven, and also what I believe to be Ore Ida tater tots advertised under a different name misleading expectations. All in all I went on longer than I wanted, yet I've left several things deemed not worth it out of this review, I heavily recommend avoided this establishment, however nice it looks. Such a shame that such a lovely looking place dropped the ball this hard, what a disappointment at my mother's birthday lunch, this isn't the gift I...

I’m in town visiting my daughter and we ordered two pizzas online. When I completed my order it said that my pizzas would be ready at 5:59 PM. When I showed up at the restaurant I was told my pizzas were in the oven and will be out in a few minutes. At 6:18 when I still haven’t received my pizzas, I asked what the holdup was. I was told that if I order online, that The order doesn’t get to them right away and therefore the time shown online is not accurate. Approximately two minutes later My pizzas were ready and she asked me to look at them. I noticed that the “build your own pizza” didn’t appear to have onions and I questioned her about it. She was certain they were on there and at that point I was so aggravated I said it’s fine if there’s no onions on it. When I got home, however, I discovered our order was more messed up than that. I had ordered a medium cheese pizza with REGULAR crust, but received a medium cheese pizza with THIN crust. I ordered a large THIN crust with bacon, onion, mushrooms, and pepperoni, but received a large pizza with REGULAR crust with only mushrooms and pepperoni. This is the third time that I have ordered takeout from this restaurant. Previously I’ve done curbside and have had to call numerous times before someone would answer the phone for me to let them know that I was in the parking lot. I have then waited 20 minutes in the parking lot before I finally got aggravated and went inside to pick up my own pizza which was just sitting in the warmer, but was told that they were too busy to bring it out. I do not recommend take out from...
