This is the Timberlake area branch of the infamous Downtown Texas Inn (T-Room). Food is great, prices very reasonable and the staff are quick and efficient (and eccentric, just like the Downtown one). This one is a way-newer location so it lack the certain run-down charm of the 80-year old Downtown place but the food is identical between the two locations.
I'd recommend a combo: A Cheesy Western All the Way (cheesburger with a fried egg on it, dressed with mustard, relish and onions), A Dog All The Way (Hot dog with chili, mustard, relish and onion) and A Bowl All The Way (Their home-made chili beans with relish and onions - see a theme developing here??). As you are stating your order, the server will be relaying the order by YELLING it at the cook so don't get spooked by this - it's just how the do. The cook will sometimes YELL it back as an acknowledgement. Don't be alarmed.
They do make other items - they added a chicken sandwich, french fries and some other things and the other day I saw them hand a MENU to a couple of customers (these guys weren't local and I guess the waitress knew that) - I have never in 50 years seen a menu handed out in the T-Room.... and I think it is the only restaurant in town where you can order a glass of ice-cold buttermilk.
Both of these places are rife with occasional and regulars that come from every strata of local society - you'll see a local banker in his suit and tie eating next to a dusty, tired construction worker, next to a grandama and her grandkids.
This particular location does not stay open 24-hours, like the flagship one Downtown. If you want dinner and a show, go to the Downtown one around 1:00 or 2:00 in...
Read moreI just had the nastiest interaction with a woman who works at this location on Valentines Day about 5 minutes ago 11:22pm. I came inside and seen that my door dash offer I was picking up was ready so I flagged the woman down after she picked up a in house order and she began to berate me saying very loudly “You have to wait like everyone else !” I informed her I was simply letting her know the order I was coming to pick up was already ready so she could be aware . She began to yell at me and used demeaning language. As a proud patron especially at the Main St location in downtown, I can’t believe that I was treated like this. Can someone in management pull the camera and see how this woman yelled and aggressively came at me ? You will see exactly who she is and you will see how it escalated due to her tone and behavior. I don’t know what she’s going through but everyone has a struggle , that doesn’t mean you get ugly and blow up on people. I did nothing to warrant anger other than show my phone screen so you could know the order I came to get was prepared. Everyone seen that and agreed it was very...
Read moreHomey short order kitchen for breakfast and lunch that has great chili.
Food: Hotdogs, eggs, chili, and cheese in any combination you can think of. Seven kinds of pie in stock, although the pecan pie I had was store bought I believe. I had two of their hots all the way with a coffee and a slice of pie. The real star here is their chili, that is very flavorful without being spicy.
Service: The staff of 2, a cook and a waitress were quickly and pleasantly taking care of everyone with speed. Yes Sir and Yes Mams were being volleyed back and forth between the staff and the patrons.
Location: All bar seating with plenty of free street parking outside. The restaurant inside was very clean, you can tell the owners take pride in a clean...
