Trattoria Il Cafone — Restaurant in Lyndhurst

We have been dining here for years, and this is one of my favorite restaurants! We have had parties here, family gatherings, birthday dinners--you name it! Every experience here is better than the last. You cannot top the exceptional service, and those warm, smiling servers who will never leave your water or wine glass empty. They are right there and literally, at your service.

This past Saturday night, reminded us why we always seem to have this restaurant as our go-to. We didn't have a reservation, and even though it was a Saturday night, we walked in without having to wait. Their fried Calamari is amazing, and so it's usually our starter. It never disappoints!

There is a HUGE selection of appetizers, along with specials. This weekend, my favorite Italian dish was actually a special--Zuppa di Pesce-- and although I order that at many restaurants, this was absolutely spectacular.

My friend was craving eggplant parmesan, and when asked where it was on the menu, they said they would happily make it! It was wonderful.

There is no way you will be able to finish their generous portions, but they never rush you out. They have a full bar, yet allow you to bring your own if you prefer, and their dessert menu is to die for, so be sure to save some room!

I recommend the fried ice cream, and the tiramisu.....Yep, I get both, don't judge me ;) -- of course I share it, sometimes...

This place exceeded expectations, and if you're looking for delicious Italian food, please consider coming here. The menu is hearty with homemade pastas, meat based entrees, and specials. The service was incredible, attentive but not overbearing. Juan offered answers to questions and was patient with our orders. The food was delicious. We had a nice mix of homemade pastas and sauces, I had the lamb chop special with a side of linguine in vodka sauce, and my mother in law got the gnocchi special, which was, as described, melt-in-your-mouth. Prices were reasonable, portions were large, and after a bottle of wine for the table, we stuck around to try the desserts specifically the apple tart and tiramisu. Both were flavorful, and had lovely textures, including a wonderful lamination on the pastry. I suspect this pastry was also homemade. It was a lovely night. I have never been here prior to hosting my end of the season dinner for my Varsity Swimming team. Juan was so accommodating from start to finish. I had a total of 30 students for this dinner. Trattoria ll Cafone is so cute inside and they have parking in the back which is a great plus. We had a 4 course meal. They even gave the students options for dinner to choose from. Every course was delicious and I cannot wait to come back for dinner! I also have to add the service was amazing and everything came out in a timely manner. They even noticed that the swimmers brought me flowers and the server brought over a vase with water for them.
