I tried them out b/c they're on DoorDash. Huge mistake.
The Hunan Chicken was not spicy, but was bland. As neither of the requested sauces came with the order, it was pretty gross. And calling it Hunan "Chicken" is inaccurate, considering 75%+ was veggies (see photo). The chicken I did find was weird, because it seriously kept sqeaking when I chewed it.
The portion of fried rice was generous, and the stuff on top was pretty tasty. Below that, though, it was somehow both soggy and undercooked? Is that possible?
I thought the option of 2 Crab Rangoon instead of an egg roll with a dinner combo was pretty cool. Being my 1st time ordering from them, I figured it was a good way to try them. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity, since they were missing from the order.
The egg rolls do not come with plum sauce??? Even that wouldn't have helped, though. Both eggrolls tasted like extra-salted butter. Terrible! I actually spit it out. And eggrolls are usually my favorite!
I still have my hot and sour soup to try, but I'm not super pumped, considering what a disaster everything else has been.. I wish they'd included the specific request for extra crispy noodles (a qt. gets a little pouch).
I can NOT recommend this place. I wish I'd splurged on my usual place and payed the $3.99 delivery fee.
The soup was as bad as the rest. Very oily, and full of mushrooms to the point that the brother tasted like oily mushrooms. I threw...
Read moreTo summarize the food was not good and the service was just ok. I ordered almond chicken, which actually came topped with thin sliced almonds and was served on a bed of lettuce, but the chicken was very greasy looking and the gravy was not quite right. The rice had no meat or egg in it at all, and was bland with no flavor, except that it tasted like it was fried in a dirty wok. They may advertise that it is vegetable fried rice, so I don't hold the lack of meat in it against them; I did not look at the menu before ordering.
I am used to the yellow chicken gravy that has a strong garlic flavor, so maybe this is just my personal preference. The almond chicken has a lot of fat in it and was of questionable quality. The chicken also tasted like it was fried in dirty, or excessively used, grease. The rice also had this flavor, so I am seeing a pattern of questionable cooking habits.
The egg roll was also greasy but did not taste like it was fried in the same vat as the chicken. However, it was not that good either. It was also bland and even some of my low-sodium soy sauce from my fridge did not help it.
Kim's Gardens in Novi was the best, so I am comparing this place to my very high standards. It is too bad that Kim's had such bad owners, and it is probably good that it burned down; although it is tragic that those people had to die in the fire for us to discover that the owners were...
Read moreI have been going here for years and it seems to be going downhill. We stopped ordering their crab rangoons due to them changing them and using way less filling. Then when my son picked up on or most recent visit they wanted to charge him extra for the plum sauce for the egg rolls that they have been giving me for years and years. Not sure if they were just trying to take advantage of his young age or what. I called them to asked why and they told me they always do this and insinuated I was lying when I told them they have given me it for years and years and argued with me excessively. Very very rude. We will be trying the other Chinese restaurants...
